from the tech pages
The A-body 8.75 came with small drum brakes, and a 4" bolt pattern that isn't very popular. As for width, once you move springs and wheelwells to fit 10" rims, you'll find you need 7.5" of backspacing. There are only 2 wheels available with this much offset, so choices are limited. Notice alot of a-bodies have Draglites of Centerlines? Now you know why.
this is with an a body width axle so a 59 inch axle will not fit-

Look in the tech page (Chassie & Body) and then to How to measure for rear wheel size. Good info there. Hope this helps.

Yeah, 7.5 is exactly what we came to a conclusion too. That page helped alot. But Weld doesnt make a Pro Star wheel with 7.5 except for chev and dodge. So i have to use a 15x8 with 5.5 back spacing which will work. This leads me to my next question, will I find any problems mounting a 29x10 inch slick on an 8 inch rim?

No problem putting a 10 or 10 1/2slick on a 8 in, wheel. It wil make the overall section width about 1in. narrower or in other words side wall width.
