68' Dart Dash Template
« on: May 15, 2007, 05:12:04 PM »

Saw some great pics of people who have redone their original Dashes with new gauges, was wondering if there's a template out there.  Anyone know of anything like that?

Thianks....

Go to "rocky mountain dashes.com". They actually machine A-body dashboards how you want them & their site allows you to plot out how you want it.

Rocky Mountain, the only way to go!

...if you have a ton of money.

IMHO, they were worth it before the prices went up after Christmas, now, I can't justify the cost for my car, too many things need money first.

Redline is a good alternative, but I am working on a custom panel for my dash using an aluminum plate.

I think I paid 375 for mine. I haven't seen the recent pricing, too bad if they went up  Sad I used cheaper VDO gauges to soften the blow. They work fine. The electronic speedo is an asset!

They only went up because the company was selling them at a loss prior to the first of the year, seeing how we don't have the deep pockets of Microsoft (the borg) we cannot continue to run the business this way.  Looks like there may be some hurt feelings but just know my car is currently apart and sitting because I can't afford to get it back together right now.

We're just trying to sell a great product with some profit for those involved.  I'm not sure a RMD dash can be compared to redline, redline offers a plastic piece that can be spit out 100 at a time.  Ours are 1/8th inch Aluminum with custom EDM'ed tubes to match the back contour and give a muscular style, it's not just a gauge holder, it's very stylish in it's own right.  I wish we could sell them at the old prices, but we were facing either shutting down or continuing on with new pricing.  Anyway, that's why things are as they are at RMD, dispite all the rumors.

Understandable for the price change.  I'm sure there are no hard feelings.  I'm looking at one for my '67 Post.

Sometime soon I'll buy an RMD guage insert looks way to nice to compromise. I can't justify putting the stocker back in when i'm going to do so much cool stuff to my 68.

I called before Christmas to check prices, when I called back in Jan to order the prices went up. Trust me, I know all about competitive pricing in a business venture, I had to shut down my own business a few years ago because I could not compete with rediculously low market pricing. How about offering a cheaper all plastic or a flat panel of aluminum we can cut ourselves?  There is no denying that they look awesome, but some of us just cant afford to spend over $1000 on a new dash with gauges.

I had already started collecting the gauges for my custom dash and all I need now is just the speedo and tach. I am using the Autometer Ultra-lite gauges and I have (4) 2 5/8" and (2) 2 1/16 gauges. I just cant decide between the 3 3/8" and the 5" speedo and tach. I plan to start working on my dash panel in the next few weeks. I am going to try to make a flat panel to mount gauges into, I used to make dash panels for boats many years ago, so I hope it turns out nice. I will post some pictures when I start work on it.
