I've read, that in the 63, you have to put a little ding in the firewall around the wiper motor to get distributor clearance. Can someone tell me how far over? Is it right on the most protruding part of the firewall opposite the wiper motor? Also, how much of a ding does it take to clear? I'm getting ready to paint and don't want to mess it up if it doesn't clear when I drop the motor in.

Why don't you mock up the engine over the weekend before you shoot the finish coat? I think the SB will fit no problem, but my '64 came from the factory with one.

Yeah, just wanting to get in a hurry adn get it on the road this summer. I should probably slow down before I screw something up. I've been working on the thing for three years and I'm dying to get it on the road. The local Friday and Saturday night cruise-ins are begging for an early Dart. There's a couple of really nice 70's model Dusters and Darts that show up, as well as a few B and E bodies. There's a really nice 65 Barracuda I saw down there last night. But no early Darts. I'm really getting anxious to get her on the road.

I currently have a 273 in my 63 Dart. I don't think that there is much of a clearance issue. On my car the motor mounts were home made because the 6 cylinder steering drag link was not changed to a V8 style. So the front of the engine was raised up enough to clear. The trans mount was also jury rigged. The dist cap was right up against the firewall.
I am work so I will take a pic tomorrow and post it for you.
Mike
