I'm looking at the C.A.Technologies Jaguar Deluxe SLP, SATA 2000, or SATA 3000 for paint, and SATA KLC-B 1.7mm for primer. Any suggestions?

The Sata guns are very good, but pricey. You can get the same results with a gun from Devillbiss or Binks. Most come with different nozzles and you want to use a 1.7-2.0 for primer and a 4.0 for finish paint. The gun doesnt make the painter, the guy behind it does. Just remember, the prep work on the car is 95% of a good paint job.

Though smaller tips are typically for finishes and larger for primers. I've got cheap Harbor Freight and "Tool Sale" guns for primer and a Devilbiss GF 670 + for topcoats. It's Dodge Omni vs. Chrysler 300.

Am REALLLLLLY sorry for the mis type I put in yesterday and I heard from some of you and with good reason. I was thinking 1.4 tip and hit the 4 with no 1 in front.........I know better but hey, getting older here and sometimes the fingers do one thing while the brain is thinking the other.

Northern tool seems to have a few guns that look good, but my favorites have to be the ones Eastwood.com sells.

i never really did much painting, never used a hvlp graviti fed gun, well i bought a cheap CIA fro mthe paint store it was around 80 bucks with the reg, i have had excelent results with it so far being a 1.4 tip i find it a little on the small side for any primer, but ive used it for epoxy primer, high buld preimer, and bc/cc. also used it with tons of rust oleum.

In my humble opinion, I think its MOST important to have clean-dry air, a good filter and dryer is very important!

I have 2 Sata NR 2000s. 1.3 tip for base and 1.4 tip for clear. Also an old Echo 40 with a 1.5 tip iI don't use anymore but still nice for clear.

Is the SATA 3000 better in every respect than the 2000? It's only $50 more

Being a bodyman/painter 20 + years. I've used a few different type of paint guns in my time. I have three DeVilbiss paint guns HVLP GTI. I use 1.4 mostly for base coat, 1.3 or 1.2 for clear. Sealers qand primers I use a Sharpe Cobalt 1.8 and 1.4 depending on size of job I'm doing. All guns mentioned above are good guns. Even my tried and true JGA guns are still in use from time to time. I am a paint virgin I just bought a cheap HVLP gun and I plan on painting my car with Tremclad with is the same as Rustolem so I've been told. My Question is how much thinner to paint should I use Also Any Tips would be Welcome.

I like the Sata RP. Great gun!
Although I own a cheapy Astro Pneumatic too which I can lay out the paint pretty well with. Prep work and good paint go a long way, but a nice gun helps too. If you know how to spray and you are using clearcoat paint, you can buff later. Most guys do anyway. Cleaning the gun really well helps them keep spraying well.
