So here I am just startting to mow the yard. Down the side of the house to the street, then across the front. Hummm...think I'll mow an extra foot over into the neighbors yard so I can get those weeds. Ok back to the street. Where's that sprinkler head....wack..puuha. Mower stops and I'm thinking...uhooooh...I must have torn the sprinkler head off. Then I notice some guts laying there in front of the mower. What? I back up a little and there is some fur and a couple of feet. I'm thinkin I ran over a squirrel. Then I notice the color of the fur. There has been a Possum around my shed lately. I see his tracks and not him/her. But I know that sucker is around there because my dog always goes crazy and acts like he's chasing something when he goes near the shed. Anyhow, here I am thinking there aren't many body parts so it must be a baby Possum. Maybe the mom and the rest are in the bagger. I pull it off and go in the backyard to dump it out. Well no Possums. Now I'm still trying to figure out where these body parts came from. Back to the mower. Nope...nothing in the bagger chute. Bagger goes back on the lawn mower. I grab the cord and give it a yank. Yikes...a body comes flying out from under the mower. That Possum must have been in the bag and tried to crawl out of the bagger chute and stepped into the blade. And I thought I was having a bad day.

An unopened can of beer.....that was very much opened after it had been mowed. Bonus: I was 14. No, it wasn't mine, but the yard was. Yes, the grass was a bit tall.

Slightly off topic: I was mowing my mom's grass one day a few years back and ran over an old conduit sticking out of the ground. I couldn't restart the mower. Upon further inspection, I found that I'd broken the crank on her BRAND NEW mower. I drove over to my house, got my mower, finished the lawn and didn't say a word. The next day at work, I took out the Northern catalog and ordered up a 5 hp Techumseh engine. It came a few days later. I installed it on the mower and since the mower had the pull start rope up on the handle, I swapped the longer one onto the new one, along with the 4 hp label onto the 5 horse engine. To this day (8 or 9 years later) my brother and I still refer to mom's mower as the "sleeper".

i mowed over a bees nest in the ground one time .. i got the crap stung out of me.. so after a breather and some time to inspect my wounds i zip tied the handle on the mower so it wouldnt turn of then ran the mower over to the bees hole and left it till it ran out of gas .. i felt better after that .. then i waited till night and filled the hole with propane and threw a road flare at the hole and killed every last bee ..

Found a long lost set of keys (only set) after someone else mowed, does that count.

A nest of rabbits, couple of snakes. A piece of chain one time. Ugh that sure screwed up the mower. Tin cans are pretty cool:)

Oh yeah, I ran over a can of bug spray once. That was cool.
Not a lawnmower, but many times, I would start a standby generator and kittens would get thrown all over. In the winter, they sleep on the engine to keep warm from the block heaters and sometimes the fan would get them. I used to hate that.

when my cousin was about 14 yrs old he was mowing the yard at their farm. they had an old farmall tractor with a 60" deck. while he was mowing he got too close to the dog house and the dogs chain accidently got wrapped around a blade and reeled in the family dog. he froze when he saw it coming and didn't get the tractor shut down in time. the lab didn't have a chance. that was pretty hard on my cousin. don't think he's mowed since.

i always have all sorts of dog toys shooting out from under mine, they leave toys all over the place, i think they get it from me, they see how i have tools all over the garage and they think it is the right thing to do.
