body on rotisserie
« on: June 10, 2007, 02:25:03 PM »

these questions may sound really dumb, but i really have no clue and i am going to ask anyways...  Dunno

i have most of my car torn part because when i started my engine swap i keept getting that feeling that i should do more work now so i don't have to redo it all later. i figured i should do this because i have that apart and one thing led to another and now it's a gutted rolling chassis...

1. what do i have to do to get it on a rotisserie?
2. how much do you think it would cost me to buy enough primer, paint and clear to repaint the whole car top and bottom?
3. including all the prep work i know is going to be need... how long do you think the whole process would take?

thanks for all the help!

1. do all the welding first.......only a strong solid body should go on the spinner
2. 2K +/-
3.400-700 hours

Good Luck!

i was referring to rust repair;   frame connectors could prob go in any time although they would help eliminate any flexing

you could go cheap, but all that labor deserves quality materials.........it ads up; stripper, primer (epoxy, filler, ect), filler, sandpaper, more primer, engine paint, suspension paint, underside paint, basecoat, clearcoat, hardners, reducers, cleaners, bottle of aargon, welding wire. stop me before i get to 3K ......stuff is expensive, if you can get all this crap for 1500, u da man!

cant help ya with the lotto.........but seriously; the labor is by far the most expensive part of a serious rebuild (ie 500 hrs X $50 = 25K  Shocked ) all that hard work gets wasted if the materials dont hold up. quality products and proper usage is critical

exactly why i do as much as possible myself unless i just don't have the resources to do so myself. and up to now i have used just about the best stuff because i don't want to have to pay to redo it again soon, lol.

Look for a SPI rep in your area to get your paint from ! Top quality paint and much cheaper than the Dupont ,RM ,PPG, And has been used by year one is the paint on the blacken mustang in hotrod mag and has been rumoured to be on some of the overhaulin cars... chips ford truck really black black!!I can get my paint shipped from them to my door for cheaper than I can get the low end paint at my dealer! And I needed it shipped to me on the east side of Canada. As they say "we won't give you a hat,T-shirt,frame machine, bass boat, paint booth,or sponsor your racecar to use our products."I can contact the President 7 days a week even after normal business hours for customer or technical support.
Check out their site and prices http://www.southernpolyurethanes.com/homepage.htm or their forum http://spi.forumup.org/index.php?mforum=spi Lots of good info and people to get info from.
Hope this helps some of you out .
