I watched some video clips on the web, and it looks like they wrapped it and sprayed it with a cosmoline rust prevenative. They also sealed the vault up. Lets hope she survived all these years.

the bag is supposed to be sealed tight, but it looks grim. and if it were hermetically sealed what about the trapped gasses inside ie: gasoline and battery?would'nt that mess it up inside too?

If that Casket the car is sitting is is that rusty then the car will be history, is that rust on the Tomb sides that i'am seeing? Really hope this has a happy ending for the car.

Really, though who would have designed a time capsule without thinking about how to keep the moisture away, car would have fared better sitting in somebodys garage for 50 years IMHO, all the work they want through, why didnt they build the time capsule above ground or at least think it through a little better., wonder how many city administrators are on the phone frantically looking for a prestine 57 Plymouth to unvail instead of whats down in the hole, will be interesting to see whats underneath when they finally unvail it.

To me all that dark brown grainy gunk looks like rust deposits, also noticed that the fins on both sides arent stickig up as high as they shoud either, that could just be the angle of the photos causing that appearance though, its too bad there wansn't a method implimented at the time to monitor the vault for moisture.

im sure bugs have chewed at least just one little pinhole in the bag, filling it with water, they should have coated the walls in line-x

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like they burried that damn thing alive. They should have done it to a chevy.

Wow, that looks bad...I don't think they planned it out very well. They should have put in some piping for drainage at the very least as a precaution. If it is in one piece, just cleaning all the cosmoline off will be a pain in the ass; that stuff is nasty.
