67-9 rear clip on a 70 chasis???????
« on: December 27, 2005, 02:32:36 PM »

I just bought a 70 dart a month or so ago.  The rear quarters need replaced.  Is it possible to hang 67 to 69 rear quarters bumper and decklid on my 70 chassis   REASONABLY??/    I know anything can be done with enough money but I am not Bill Gates

I like the car and its worth saving but i lOVE  the 67-9 roadrunner style tail lights so much better?

if its a waste of time to attempt it so be it .  i can always get another toy but the price is the same for the quarters from year one so i had this thought.  I figured if anybody had done this i would find them here.

any help advice experience tips apprecaited

thanks for your time

It's been done, but what I have seen is the reverse to make a 70 convertible out of a 68 convert and a 70 hardtop. But the idea is the same.

It can be done, but you will need more then just the 1/4's and decklid. The cheapest way would be to find a 68 dart with a good back end 2 or 4 door and graft the whole back on yours then get some repop 1/4's. The other thing to check is the back filler panel and hinges to make sure they are the same.

If you already have a 67-69 rear clip that's in good enough condition to warrant transplanting I think it would be worth more to sell it for use on that body style.  You could use the money to get some real clean 70 quarters and still have some cash left.  Just my opinion.  I know there's a few people on this board looking for 67-69 quarters.

? I dont have any parts for the DART yet.? I was looking at 2 places year one and autobody specialtites? they both? sell? new quarters for my 70 dart.? they also sell new quarters for 67 - 9 darts. the price is the same for either of? the years.. I just wasnt sure how involved the procedure was? honestly.

? ?I like my dart i just like the rear lights of the 67-9 better than the 70's stuffed down in the bumper.

if i had to go as far as buying a complete rear clip it wouldnt be worth it to me. my car has solid floor pans from end to end just the 2 quarters over wheel well are rusted i could get away with patch panels honestly on drivers sdie but im putting whole quarters on..

Find a good body guy in your area and talk with him. It can be done just look at all the componets and take your time.

I have been thinking about this alot this week and decided its not worth the effort/money. I can live with the 70 tail lights.

Best part of this course is it gives me an excuse to buy a 67/8 later on

Now you're talking.  I like both the styles but don't think I'd like them mixed.
