i'm cheap, so instead of buying the pre 72 a-body (biscut mount) S6 to B/RB conversion mounts, i want to try to mod mine . i did a search on this site but found only how to mod a V8 spool mount k-member. i assume that you can use the trans x-member as a locator for the correct for/aft placement of the engine, and there's about a 2 1/2" engine centerline offset to the pass side. so i was wondering if anybody has any really good pics/info on how to do this. anyways the car is a 72 scamp S6/ auto/ column shift with power steering and power brakes, the engine going in is a 383/727 combo.

You might try Transdapt, I see they have something listed on their web site under Engine swap kits that looks like it may work for your situation. http://www.tdperformance.com/TransDapt.htmlGood luck with the project, Pat

The K-member mod in the tech pages is the same thing Chrysler did back in the 1970s to make the Direct Connection k-member. That doesn't mean it's the only way to fly. You are correct on placement starting with the trans mount and then the offset, but don't forget crank height from the k-member.
Also, depending on where you are, 73-76 V8 k-members still show up in wrecking yards. Around here I can still get one for about $20 at the self serve places when they have one and I feel like pulling it (which is getting less and less likely).

getting next to impossible to find 73-76 V8 A-body anything up here. here's a pic to give a better idea on what i want to do. basically i want to weld a 1/4" plate to where the square outlines are (after removing the stock S6 frame mounts of course). heres a pic of the frame mounts i bought. they are matched for the engine mounts: i was just wondering if anybody has any good pics of there modded pre-72 biscut mount S6 k-member so i can visualize what i need to do. if i have to move the plates further back etc. cause i'd like to do that before i put the engine in. will a 1/4" plate be strong enough? or will i have to weld braces to it. also, where do you notch the k-member for oil pump clearance? will the plate clear the power steering? i'm also using the HP exhaust manifolds. thanks.

If you ask real nice and ship that guy in California his LD, you might be able to find a biscuit mount v8 k frame... ![\/][](http://www.bigblockdart.com/Smileys/classic/finger020.gif) Shipping might be a bit, but he's got one... I just had to put the little cheering slut in here somehow... Enjoying your vacations from slowparts?

The a-body bisuit mount k-member is not made to accept the mounts you have. you'll still be cutting. If it were me and I wanted to mount it that way I'd get some B/C/E mount pads from the k-member and use them after cutting off the /6 pieces.

i did consider that, especially with the S6 k-member, i had a funny feeling that that plate i wanted to make would have to be very long and possibly very week without alot of bracing. however with the V8 biscut k-member, does moving the pass side mount back 13/16" and the drivers side mount 1 3/16" back still apply even if your using the biscut setup?

No, you really can't use those measurements, but I suspect it will be close to that.

yah i kinda suspected that. but actually the mounts in the pic was ordered for a 69 cuda with a 383. sooooo any reconmendations on how far back i would need to move the mount? can i just drill holes on the existing V8 biscut mount k-member (thanks to Mr. Cali-for-ni-A )?

Here's the link to a pic of an origional BB K member. http://www.bigblockdart.com/index.php/topic,18173.0.htmlThat is what you're drivers side motor mount and the pad would look like if you modified the biscuit type k member. Note the mounting holes on the front of the block. BTW...The insulators you have shown look like E Body pieces.

Those are NOT 69 Barracuda 383 mounts. Those are 67-ish up B/C/E mounts.

I would start with a spool mount K-frame and modify it for B-RB mounts. That is a lot of work to do your biscuit K-frame for something you'll still have to chain down.

If you have a biscut small block K frame (67-72) you might look into this tip someone posted many moons ago on one of the old boards. I have not tried this but it's worth a look. The paragraph below is cut and pasted from someone else. I just saved it to my info data base.
ok,this works on up to 72 style smallblock A body k members,,,,,STOCK 66 B body 383 motor mounts bolt directly into a smallblock K member provided you have manual steering....the trick,,,weld a 1/4" thick 2" x 3" steel plate extending towards the rear of the car over the sb drivers side k member mount pad and drill a hole approx 2" back on the plate from the original mount hole the same size,,passenger side 66 mount goes directly in the factory mount hole and drivers side mount goes easily into the hole drilled back from the original...stock 66 B body 383 mounts, one piece of steel and 1 hole drilled and any BB is a bolt in in a stock smallblock K member,,,hope it helps anyone on a budget,,the mounts may be available in other cars but i know for sure i used the stock 66 charger 383 mounts,,,good luck and happy motor swapping! Ski, I don't know who posted that, but I can tell you with certainty that it won't work. The 66 b-body big block mounts do NOT have a stud on the bottom side. They use a horizontal bolt through the mount and pad. It MIGHT be possible to use the 67-up small block isolators on the big block steel mounts and make something work there, though.

Jim you are correct on the drivers mount. i'll have to get the repop from 440source.com. then, i'll have to cut out the d-side bracket from the small block k-frame and reweld it to the k-frame like ma-mopar did. hopefully, it'll work out.

Ya Jim, I was trying to visulize it after I re-read the post and thought maybe he used the engine side mount with an isolater into the A body biscut V8 K frame pad but I couldn't see it. When I stashed my Satellite in storrage I bolted a 440 core into just to get it out of the way and I recall the horizontal joining bolt somewhat similar to a chebby V8 mount.
