Ok here is my question and from what I can understand from the original wiring diagram and the one from mallory. The only new wire needed to be ran to existing ballast resistor is the red wire from harness to 12volt side of resistor.
As of now the distributor is ran off the one resistor than the original brown ignition wire from coil to resistor is hooked up original resistor so I am using both resistors correct?
this can produce a weak spark and give an appearance of running too rich? Anyways cant i eliminate the new wire from coil ran to new resistor and then hook up just the red wire from harness to old resistor and this solve my problem. Seeing how the brown wire is coming from positive terminal to ballast resistor already.
But anyways heres the review of how it is wired there is a new ballast resistor mounted by the coil wires ran to it is one from positive side of coil and then the red wire from distributor harness, then there is a brown wire from positive coil ran to old resistor, then there is the green wire from distributor harness to neg side of coil then 2 new wires that arent factory one is green for tach another black, from my investigative work appears to go to a box from street glow which might have went to a neon kit which is no longer on car.

Ok sorry I was in a hurry and trying to get ready for work when i first posted this question let me try to clarify the situation
Wiring based on new wiring from unilite distributor. The brown wire is grounded on engine, green wire from harness goes to neg coil, the red to ballast resistor which is the new ballast resistor and be known as br#2.
Now wiring as far as cars original wiring and that from coil. there is a red wire from positive terminal to br#2 obviously opposite side as one from distributors harness now those are the only wires on br#2.
wires on positive terminal of coil
Now there is a brown wire from original wiring harness of car which from diagram goes to post on the right as you are looking at the original resitor. So there are 2 wires on the positive terminal on coil one ran to old resitor the other to br#2.
So basically my question is can i eliminate br#2 as the original feed wire from positive terminal on coil is already ran to old ballast resistor then the only wire that needs to be ran to old resistor is the red one from dist harness.
Now that both resistors are being used can that be what has been causing my running rich all the time problem?

OK I think I get it ... You can run the red wire from the dist directly to a switched 12v source. The + coil will still need need to be run through 1 ballast resistor, either the factory original or preferably the one supplied with the coil. you should never run it through 2 ballast resistors. Hope this helps
