I finally have something to cover up the ugliness that passes for wiring under the hood! Got my 74 RR hood chopped up and temporarily grafted onto my hood. Only had to take out a small portion of the bracing to make room for the cheapo chrome air cleaner. I'd like to use my dual snorkle but I'll need to remove a much larger chunk of bracing for that, and even then it might not fit under the scoop because it is a much larger diameter. Eventually I will flange the old hood skin to make a clean transition to the new skin and have it welded up. Sneaky 340 callouts will stay for a while.  |

having owned a 67 Barracuda as my 1st car and a 67 Formula S there are few hoods that look better then the factory hood on them in my opinion, BUT if I had another 67 Cuda and needed hood clearanance that would work for me. finish it off, get it painted and have custom graphics made for it to look kinda like the RR stuff

modify it and put the chrome inserts on the sides of the bulge?

Looks great! I remember my boss (I was 21 at the time so in the early 80"s) skinning a '70 cuda hood and grafting it onto a '69 RR, most folk thought it stock. I've got the beginnings of an airgrabber grafted into my '64 Dart hood, fits the frame like it was made for it  Just a little more welding and some forming of the underhood 'glass and it should be fun Will |

In case you guys haven't figured it out yet, there's not a huge outlay of cash into my car. I use alot of stuff I get for cheap or have laying around and make it work. I have had a Challenger twin scoop hood skin laying around forever and was going to use that but it's just too long to fit the Cuda's short hood. No matter how I looked at it, one end or the other would haved needed to get chopped off more than would have looked right. I also have a SS scoop, but I still would have needed to cut up the hood because the twin humps wouldn't let the scoop lay flat. So I figure if I gotta do major surgery, I may as well do something unique and I love the RR humped hood. Managed to find a hood for $100 that wasn't anywere near perfect, but I was gonna cut the bad parts off anyway so it fit my needs well.
Give me some thoughts on these ideas...
1. I've been kicking around grafting in the vent slots from the RR hood into the rear corners of the Cuda hood to act as heat vents.
2. Also, grafting in a series of longer vents (such as A-body cowl vents) on top of the scoop so the air cleaner can be sealed underneath and pull in fresh outside air.
But I'm thinking the hood will be way too busy with all that going on there.

That looks kille man! I always wanted to put one of those style hoods on my 72 satellite sebring, but I could never find one for cheap. I do think it may be a little too much by grafting in some cowl slots and sealing up the air cleaner, but it's your car. I love when people dare to be different. |

That is sweet! I will be on the hunt for one of those hoods that has issues to use as a donor for my "70 Dart. It is clean and simple and most of all not the usual cowl induction style scoop.

I don't really know how much clearance I've gained, but here's what I'm running. I've got an M1 single plane, Holley w/ no spacer, drop base air cleaner. I can't get in there to measure it but it's looks close to 1" clearance as it is. With a stock non-drop type cleaner there is bare minimum clearance. |
