Congratulations! It looks like a rock solid foundation. We need to keep in touch. I am building a '35 Plymouth coupe as well. What are your plans for it?

Thanks guys! it's fairly solid, all stock, need a set of glass, but it's all flat, needs window rubbers and some body work. GTX, do ya have some pics, the 35 Dodge is supposed to be almost identical to a 36. and proably the Plymouths are to. yes stay in touch, and what are your plans? I'm thinking 318 auto, a cruzer type, nothing radical. Bigcube, pretty appropriate since my name is Roger!

I'm thinking 318 auto, a cruzer type, nothing radical. Bigcube, pretty appropriate since my name is Roger! I do have some pics but have never figured out how to properly reduce the size to post here. One of these days, I will spend some time and figure it out. If you email me with your address, I can send them directly to you. I am all ready relatively deep into the major mods on the '35. I am going the pro-street route (but it is supposed to have an old school/backyard build look to it). The 9" has been shortened and installed. The tubs are in. The MII is all ready hung. Moved the firewall back and inch plus and went with the smooth look. Had to replace the toeboard sheetmetal as well. There is a boneyard 318/727 temporarily sitting in it to mock up the engine mounts and trans mount. I have all the components for a 406 motor in the garage. All the machine work is done, the internals (ie pistons, crank, rods, cam, etc.) have been coated and are waiting assembly. I am planning on running the Indy 360-1s. The trans is finished. Hoping to wire the car in the near future. Without going into greater detail, that is it for now. BTW: You are correct the 35s & 36s (Dodge and Plymouth) are very similar. There are differences in grilles, trunk lid sizes, side hood mouldings, etc. If you get a chance to take pics of the interior, I would like to see them. Re: glass & mouldings. There's a guy selling clear/tinted glass kits for our cars on ebay for approx. $245/set. I don't believe this includes the windshield but still a good deal. I believe the rubbers are available from Roberts Motor Parts or through Andy Bernbaum (both in MA).

I'm puttin a 331 in a 51 cranbrook and I dont want to, I bought the car in 87 gave it to my step father for fathers day, a peach of a car, it always relaxed me driving it he had it 20 years now wants to modify it and I like it sooooooo much better stock, the old starter growlin it out I love the car original, but we all do what we gotta. just seams like with a modified car coulda been done by any body, but an original, shit Walter P musta had sumthin to do with that one, and so easy to clean up compared to restoring one less engine and trans or who knows what else. I kinda like a original all original so easy to separate but harder than hell to get back together. Prolly sound like a sissy huh

Got a buddy that is puting the finishing touchs on a 36' four door. He is running a warmed over 360.....later model front suspension, corvette rear, etc. Currently finishing up the interior.....over head console with a drop down DVD player......back of front seats have a fold-down food tray.....like the airlines use. This car will be featured in the mags some day.

Is that the original roof line or has it been chopped? I think it's a great project, definately something different.

I hope I can speak for Roger and say yes, that looks to be the original. That was the reason I was looking for a '35 or '36. I didn't wasn tot have to chop the top. Their rooflines all ready have nice angles unlike the other mnfrs which need to be chopped to make them look good.

Yes, GTX is right, it's bone stock, ordered new glass for it today, i just can't decide what tint if any I want, and will get new window rubber and weatherstrip. I don't think it will take much to get it running, and need to redo the brakes, probably drive it like it is for a while, till i get the itch to tear into it. The trunk in this thing is unbelievable, i could almost live in there, i took all the crap out tonight, lots of motor parts, even the original jack was back there. Man there are so many ways to go with this thing my head hurts from all the daydreaming ![\/][](http://www.bigblockdart.com/Smileys/classic/finger020.gif) I do know MT 33 X 21.5 X 15's don't look like they will squeeze under there

yeah you can make that big old rubber fit, but i think it would look much better with a set of whitewall pie crust firestone bias plies. would be cool to get a 40s mopar flathead 6 and throw some early speed parts on it, fenton split header, aluminum head and a 2x2 intake. so what is it with all the guys getting the old stuff lately? heres mine

I think that there are quite a few of us that have older (30's/40's) projects but it takes someone to mention them for all of us to chime in. The 60's/70's iron are the stars here.

Nice ride there Jamesdart! what is it, i'm guessing 31/32 Desoto? must be a ball to drive that around.
I talked to the guy i got the 35 from, he was telling me the guy he got it from used to drive it around the dirt roads in farm country with his buddy drinking beer, one day they pulled it in the barn and were gonna hop it up, they pulled the cam and installed a hotrod cam, when they got it back together it wouldn't run right, it would run, but not like it should, well they left it, since 1958 is what he says. the speedo says 41K on it, he thinks it's original miles. I'm really thinking about just getting it running and enjoy it like it is, maybe later i can tear into it.
GTX, shoot me those pics.

Nice, some people like stock, but if it were mine, I would drop it down, hack the fenders off, chop the grille shell about 10", leave the hood off, 8 3/4 rear, dual A-arms up front, then drop a 440-6 between the rails, and do huge meats on 15x10 rallye wheels out back and 15x6 up front. But I'm sort of sick and twisted and like that kind of stuff!

Dang!! let me drag out the cetalene torch!!! I know everyone has different idaes, and i appreciate all the comments and ideas, I only have one shot at this and i wanna make sure it's the right thing for me to do, it's easy to cut something up, but very hard to go back once ya started down a certain road with a lot of mods, thay ain't gonna make any more of these things, and i gotta admit, stock ain't to bad either.
