Fiberglass hood installation question.
« on: July 31, 2007, 04:36:59 PM »

Hey guys, quick question for those of you who have hood pins on your fiberglass hoods. How are you supporting the hood around the edges to line it up with the body? I want my hood to sit flush with the rest of the fenders and cowl. Any pictures would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks  Huh

Well, I've got a bolt on from AAR. I noticed that the factory rubber bumpers along each fender won't do anything (won't touch) because of the way the hood is shaped underneath. In my case, the hinges will keep it centered. Adjusting your pin height in addition to precise location should locate the hood where it needs to go - just don't know about any additional support. I added a bumper at the rear center of the hood to support it there. The sides don't seem to need anything.

I had a glass hood on a Charger. It used to bow up in the middle when I started going real fast... Like I could see the air filter from the driver's seat. After it was on the car a while, it started to warp on the sides a little. It looked like crap. I made bumpers to set all the edges and used Dzus fasteners all around. I have a glass six pack hood for my roadrunner. Not sure yet what I'm going to do to it, but I'm not doing the Dzus route again.
