tire help needed
« on: July 31, 2007, 05:45:51 PM »

I have a 74 dart with stock wheelwells and stock spring location, does any one know if a 235-60-15 will fit in there on a 6.5 or 7 inch steel wheel. I need to order my tires this weekend and i just want to be sure.

235-60-15s fit fine on 6.5 or 7 inch wheels and stock Dart rear wheelwells. They won't fit the front very well, though.

i have a 235/60r15 on my duster with a 80s chrysler 15x7 with a 4.25 backspacing, stock steel wheel and it doesnt not fit the stock wheelwell on the plymouths

the dodges on the other hand, they will fit fine, the plymouth lip wraps back around and i only need to trim an inch to get no rubbing, while the dodge ones gos at a backwards angle, so they fit with no clearance problems at all i know a guy that ran a 245 all the way around

this is for 15x7- 4.25

I have the same car.  What's the max tire size you can fit w/o headaches (no mods... stock wheelwells, stock spring location).  255/60/15?  Also, what size wheel would you use.... 6.5, 7 and what difference does wheel size make (bulge the sidewall out more or less)?  I can easily determine w/ a tape measure what will fit, but I have no experience w/ the amount of deflection to allow for.  I know this is probably the most common thread on the board but it's tough to find a straight forward answer w/ the differences in everyone's cars (moved springs, tubbed, narrowed rearend, ....).  Thx.

without rolling the lip, with the stock spring location i dont think a 255 would fit, it will fit with the offset spring and a rolled lip though

I'm glad I am not the only one having this problem. I cant even measure anything right now because my springs rear and all are out of the car. Thanx for all the answers.
