disc brakes?

              put a lot of grunt in the 67 valiant over winter and still tinkering with it. but you know i`m kinda avoiding one major issue, disc brakes. i have no idea where to turn with this, like who to go with (brand) , $$$ and fit. i have the skinny weld super lites. sure don`t want to compromise the the fit and have to change the front wheels. are there any friendlys out there that someone dealt with that i can run all this by??   thanks a bunch for any help

Get a disc brake set up from a 73-74 dart. That way it will fit with hardly any problems. Save you some money if you can find one at the right price.

 agree

go with the later disk brakes, you can do the whole setup for under $600 and they stop with the power to lock up any tire and have no brake fad with decent pads

I know most of your braking is done by your front brake's , But with Skinny front tire's I would Upgrade your rear brakes as well.  You Need All the Help You Can Get.

I've got a set of rotors and calipers w/brackets for a '74 Duster if you're interested.  I just bought Wilwood stuff so I don't need this any more.  PM me if you're interested.

if you are going to go with stock components, go with bigger caliper like off a 73 charger,

bigger bore means less pedal effort and more stopping power

if you want to keep sbp, go with ssbc.  otherwise go with 73-76 a body and maybe upgrade to 78 cordoba rotors and brackets for 11 3/4" rotors.
it all depends on what your looking for in disc brakes.

I was going to do the whole get spindles deal but i'm sorry when i saw SSBC's kit i just opted for that they are a DIRECT Bolt on if you have factory 10" brakes up front on your A body. only thing you really have to drill si the new plat that goes onto the spindle and well that's it i'm MUCH happier with that kit vs just getting a spindle and brake set up ona  later A body.

I swapped to the late 73-76 style big bolt disk set up on my 73 drum duster.  Got the whole set up for like $300.00.   You really are better off if you can locate someone parting out a disk brake car and get everthing off the same car.  Mine was a fresh kill so the master and calipers were in good shape.  I used the proportioning block that came from the disk-donor in case they were different.  If you are sticking with a manual brake set up make sure you use the manual disk master and not the one from your drums.  My car stops great, I am sure not as good as a wilwood set up but it was cheap and looks like it came that way.  OH yeah you gotta change the spindles too.  Drum brakes on a slant six car surrounded by late model cars in traffic should be considered dangerous.

Just picked up all the parts last night from a local yard..We got everything that we need to do it. They even left the brake lines hooked to the master cylinder along with the booster. All that we will be doing is replacing the upper and lower ball joints and pads..The rotors are in great shape with no grooves...Will clean and repack the bearings and make sure that the calipers dont leak..
 Got all of it for $250...  Cant wait to get his car on the road...I am so not happy with him right now..junior in school and have an awesome car like this. Oh well...

I checked out that Turners Parts. They had a '67 Barracuda for sale for $2500.00 except that was actually a '66 Charger.
