paint because if you ever have to do any work that requires grinding or welding, you will make you life easy. I powdercoated a chassis once and regreted hammer it after there was some welding after the fact.

Paint is easy to touch up if you have a chip or scratch. But powder is so much more durable. The one thing to remember is that the dash is sheet metal, and it must be heated to 365 degF to be powdered, so will that distort? If it does it may not fit back in exactly .....Something to think about.

as previously mentioned, paint can be touched up.  it can also be wetsanded to a better finish.  powdercoat, even done well, will always have a slight orange peel effect.  not good on a dash.

Excellent thread for me, as I'm going to be restoring the interior in my 66 Coronet soon and was wondering the same thing for my dash. GREAT point about heating up the thin sheet metal and then maybe not having a good fit after powder coating it. I think I will paint mine, as I'm going with the factory mat finish, so powder coating probably wouldn't work for a non glossy finish anyway right?
