67 Coronet Suspension rebuild parts questions

Hi all,

I am finally getting around to fixing up my 67 Coronet. It's been sitting for about 4 years now waiting on a whole new suspension.

I've got a smaller budget, about $1300 for the suspension.

I don't have very many tools any more, and no shop to work in, so ease of install is also important. Local shops are a huge rip off, i'd rather pay more for parts that are easier to install and do it myself then pay those tards for it.

Here's the parts I'm looking at getting this items..

reinforced lower control arms.. http://www.firmfeel.com/reinlca_b.htm ($125 pair, $200 core charge)
-- Greasable Pivot Pins, add $100 (I don't think it's needed, thoughts on that?)

Adjustable tublar upper control arms... http://www.magnumforce.com/store4/tubular_control_arms.asp .. $369

4 KYB shocks ($133 from ebay)
1 new pitman arm ($100 from p-s-t.com), is this needed or can i get away with the exsisting one, how do i check?

I'm thinking i should go with the super frontend kit from p-s-t.com $389 (382 on ebay), but it does some stuff that I wouldn't use, it includes
2 Upper Ball Joints
2 Lower Ball Joints
4 POLYGRAPHITE® Upper Inner Control Arm Bushings
4 POLYGRAPHITE® Lower Inner Control Arm Bushings
2 POLYGRAPHITE® Strut Rod Bushings**

For the rear, i'm thinking of some new springs and energy suspension bushings. A pinion snubber, even though I'm not sure what all that does.

What do you all think? Am I missing things, going overboard ?

I'm sure you can get some close to you to do the plates on the lowers for less. I made mine and welded them on myself for about $5.

Also I would look into Bill's adjustable strut rods:

I like the price on those a-arms as well, i'll get those instead.

My local shop charged me $175 to put a cat back exhaust on.. 4 bolts, 6 rubber hangers, 2 welds.. I would have done it myself if i could weld stuff.

I would not buy anything from Magnumforce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are just palin A_ _holes.

I've never dealt with Magnumforce before, and I'll steer clear of them, it just happened to be the site that I found them at first ..

What's the benifits to going with the adjustable strut rods?

It eliminates the back and forth movement of the low control arms and lets them move up and down easier. It also let you adjust the arms back and forth if needed.

Do you have a set of lower arms for your car right now?

Yes, the stock setup is on the car.

That's getting close to my budget, so I'm not sure about these two items.
Torsion bars, do I need to replace these? Stock 383 car.
Rear springs, should i ditch the stock springs and get something better? Or just replace the bushings.

I would set-up to the hemi bars. What are your rear springs llike? Do they still have arc to them or do they sit pretty flat on the car?

Where do you live at? If you want to buy the plates, ship them and the arms (cleaned) to me I will weld them on (for free) for you and ship them back to you. You cover shipping both ways.

If you go with Bill's upper control arms, you don't need UCA bushings, or upper ball joints. If you go with the tubular strut rods, you don't need strut rod bushings. You're wasting money, IMO, with the PST kit. Call them and see about the price without those items. Or contact Just Suspension, or somebody else. Mancini had some decent prices on lower ball joints. http://www.manciniracing.com/

If it's all together right now, watch the pitman arm closely while someone moves the steering wheel back and forth. If there's play in the pitman arm, it's bad. I would leave it alone if it's still ok.

70 Dustpan's offer is pretty good. That would save you most of the $125.

All old Mopars can benefit from some stiffer torsion bars.

Very good points about the extra parts, i'll have to do some looking around and total things up again.

I'm in Oregon, I might be able to get a friend to weld up the lowers for me (if i can get ahold of him), if not I will take you up on your offer. Either way, thanks for offering, that rocks.

I'm in Tacoma. I could weld those up for you too if you are in the area. I just gave away new rear PST leafs for $40. Timing is everything.
