I've been waiting for months to get these from uscartool. They're for the A body specifically and weld across the entire floorpan. They seem to be cut by laser or edm. From what the owner, John, said is that they fit both the short and longer wheelbase A body. You just cut off the excess or actually run them longer to the framerail. No more crappy tubes or mismatched connectors!

I hope they fit the floor pans like they are intended, mine didn't. I ended up cutting off the contoured part and boxing them in.

I'm putting mine on a '69 Barracuda. I know that this is the first set that are supposed to actually fit the A body. I'll have them on in about 2 weeks and I'll take some pics then. I've seen them on B bodies and they look really nice when done.

That's what they told me too. They didn't even come close to the floor pans, that's why I modified them.

I hope that's not the case on these. Sorry you had to do all the extra work. Supposedly they took alot of extra time to make sure they were correct. Tejas, you're right though, with aftermarket companies they seem to write alot of checks they can't cash.

The concept is pretty cool. Can you hold them up to the floor and see if they match up?

There are 2 sets for a bodies depending on what year your car is. Maybe you had the wrong set ? I still think 2X3 run threw the floor boards is cheaper and stronger.

I don't know if it's stronger. The laser cut ones are completely level on the bottom when done. They look like a full box frame. Plus they are welded all the way around the contact points. Also, you don't have to cut the floor and get into the interior. I'll take some pics once they're all welded in.

yep i too have the correct ones, but on a 64 Dart if they were even 3 inches longer yet they would fit better. I do not have the 108s I do have the 111 base parts. So I have to cut the top off and weld it in to make them fit snug against the floor.

I went to the chassis shop today and work is coming along well. The subframes have a tab on the front of them that prevent them from going up flush to the floor pan. We'll cut it off and see if they fit any better. Pics soon!

O.k guys. They're all done. All you have to do it cut the front tab off the frame connector(small flat tab). You then just grind a little here and there and they go in without any noticeable gaps. I'll take pics and post them Tuesday. I would highly recommend these as you don't have to cut into the floor pan and they are welded all the way across making them very strong. It looks like a continuation of the frame.

Thanx illfish for the update. Did they mention having any problems welding because of the difference in thickness of the metal between the floor and the connectors?

No problems with the metal thickness. Whether TIG or MIG, you just have to put the arc on the heavier metal and spot it around that way. I don't think there is any comparison in strength to the tube design.
