For those of us dreaming of someday getting our cars into a respectable elapsed time on the quarter mile; I was wondering if we could get a glimpse of some of your stats to get an idea of HP vs. Weight and your best ET ?

2975#, dyno'ed at 850hp, best ET to date is in my sig, that was in 3000' DA. I know it will go 8.90 on a better day in the fall. I have found this http://www.wallaceracing.com/et-hp-mph.php to be very accuate but it depends alot on how well your chassis works.

Maybe you guys can help me, My Demon below weighs 2800# no driver, full back half with a Dana 60 w/4.88 gears, 14 X 32 Hoosier slicks, ladder bar w/coilover shocks, JW trans w/brake and a 8"converter, motor is a 493 w/Indy 440-1 iron heads, flow 368 @.800 lift, I have a Cam motion custom ground cam, lift around a 760 with lots of duration, 1150 Dominator carb, indy intake, bottom end girdle, custom Charlies Oil pan, 2" tube fenderwell headers, and a no mercy on it driver, What will this car do in the 1/4 mile? I'd like to know and compare when I hit the track later in the year, Thanks, Newbomb
At 3000# with driver you are looking more like 9.50-60's around here. I might go a .4x on a good fall day though. Should be a fun ride

Thanks Jim, and everyone with your help, I'll be thrilled with that kind of times, never expected anything like that, I hope you're all in the ball park, now I guess I'll have to get a license and re-certify the chassis Thanks, John

496 dart: Looks good i am curious as to a couple things. 1. are you using a transbrake? 2. Why did you bring the gas line from tank up the firewall instead of having it feed the carb from the front of engine bay? 3. Where did you get that 3 mile long radiator hose?? Seriously it looks great i only wish mine performed as well,,but it's getting there. Maynard

Maynard 1. no trans brake (maybe next year) 2. the gas line was a major pain to install--so, i ran it where i could, NHRA tech hasnt said anything about it--probably because i have a trans blanket... 3. I searched forever to find a hose that would work with my new Griffin radiator---thats the ONLY one in O'Reiily stock that would come close to working ! If you run a 90 degree water neck , i bet more hoses would fit.,... Oh well--the car doesnt overheat....

Yeah; i wasn't really sure if it could be compared down to a science. I just figured if we had a good average baseline we could look at; we could kinda get an idea how much weight we should trim vs. Horsepower goals to get an idea of an ET range we are shooting for. For me; with my 65 Dart; I'm planning on either a 392 or 426 Hemi in the 500 HP range; with 4:10 gears, and hoping to break in to the 10 second range (if all the other parameters come together that is. ie. traction; good air;....strong tail wind) Thanks for posting the thread!

Your ET / MPH computed from your vehicle weight of 3000 pounds and HP of 500 is 10.58 seconds and MPH of 126.58 MPH. From Wallace, I guessed at the weight. Your chassis will need to work very well to run mid 10's with 500 hp.

I have 2 cars 77 Volare 3645 lbs with me. Its a street car first, race car second. .040 40, 383 crank and rods, KB 240 pistons at zero deck, home ported 452 heads, custom ground comp solid .520/.530 mid 240's @.050, 1.5 rockers, RPM intake, 750 pro form bodied Holley, 1 7/8 hooker headers, 3" exhaust, 3500 stall 9.5" converter, 4.10 gear'd Dana 60 with 26" ET streets. This year it has run 11.75@115 on 87 octane and so far has won 3 events this year. Vid of 11.90 http://ywnv.vidiac.com/video/79d53c31-439f-46f2-b877-998400210389.htmVid of Open Comp http://ywnv.vidiac.com/video/ae6fcd81-479e-453f-b50b-998400261f89.htmI'm just about to bring out my 70 Duster Race car Its a back half Ladder bar car. I'm thinking it should weigh around 2900lbs with me. .035 400 block with 440 source 511 rotating assembly. I went with 24 cc dish pistons and a 10.6-1 comp ratio for pump gas. Cam is a custom comp solid from Dwayne Porter as is the one in my Volare. .600/.600 266/270 @.050, Indy 400-3 intake with 1050 Domonator, Currently cnc ported E heads, 1.6 rockers, 2" TTI headers, 3.5" full exhaust out the back bumper just inside the wheelie bars, 5000 stall 8" converter, 727, 4.56 geared Dana 60, 32X14.5 slicks. Looking for high 9's. I'm hoping to have it out in 2 weeks. I was not ready for the first points race in the SS series so I decided to chase the points in my Volare which was a good idea as I'm 1st and 3rd in the 2 classes I run with it.

This is a GREAT THREAD!! I'm still under construction so no ET's yet but here it goes...440 stroker 4.375 bore x 4.15 stroke, H-beam rods, Ross custom 14.2 compression pistons, Crane custom mechanical roller cam 758in/752eh with 1.6 Jesel rockers, Ferrea 2.25 intake and 1.81 exhaust valves, titanium retainers, 7/16-3/8 Manton push rods, Rollmaster double roller timing chain, Charlies 10 qt S-comp pan w/Melling single line swinging external pickup, block filled w/hard block, BRC aluminum main caps, 440-1 Indy CNC'd heads, 440-14-15 Indy dominator tunnel ram intake, 2 1050 dominator carbs, CSR water pump, BG 400 fuel pump. Car is a 73 back halved Cuda, 5 gallon fuel cell, 4 link suspension, magnum force tubular K with rack&pinion steering, 12 pt cage, 727 trans w/TCI trans break and 8" converter. Car weighs 2553 lbs. I'm waiting on my Indy carb linkage, should be here Tuesday. My converter has the 7/16 bolts. I still need to get a flywheel and flexplate before I can drop this in!! So what is the best setup being used for these two items. I want to use the traditional bolt holes with a mini starter so I imagine I need the larger flywheel not the 130 tooth? What SFI plate and flywheel are you guys using and is it steel or aluminum? I was thinking aluminum would be better for weight etc. Help me out so I can get this thing dropped in and to the track ASAP to put up some numbers. I just finished painting the block and phew does it look good. I need to notch my motor plate a little to clear the Indy timing cover and then the water pump and plate go on.

We got 4 passes on our racecar now and saturday night in 96 degree weather with 155 degree track temp and spinning the tires off the line it ran a 10.25 @130 mph with only a 1.44 60' if it would have been cooler it would have gone 9's without a doubt.

540 inch low deck aluminum Indy block 4.5 bore 4.25 Bryant crank, 6.76 C&A steel rods, 440-1's w/2.25 valves and a .650 290 at .050 flat tappet cam and a single 1050 dominator and 14.92:1 static compression ratio. Trans is a 1.80 glide, rear axle is currently a 4.56 but most runs have been with a 4.30, tires are 104.25 roll out, converter is Coan 8" with 6100 at the gear change but Im experimenting with a 9.5" currently (mostly unsuccessfully, to my surprise it likes the 8" better). The car is a back halved 4 link with an Alter K front suspension and weighs 2997 with me in the car. Best et has been 5.79 with the 4.30 (but picked up about .04 with the 4.56 gear change ran a 5.83 with a 1.26 60ft in about 3000' of air). Have not ran quarter mile yet with this combination.

Well mine is a 572" Hemi. It is built using a mega block, and a 4.5" Bryant crank. I beam rods 13-1 compression a .759/.736 solid roller, Stage V heads and rockers. Indy intake and had an old style 1050. 4.10 geared Dana 60 with a powerglide. Last time out timing was at 29 degrees DA was 2650ish most of the day and the air temp was 100+ on a slippery track. Car with me weighs 2860, it is a mild steel 4 link strut tube chassis. Glass front steel doors and truck lid with lexan all around. Car went 8.90 with a poor 1.37 60' at 153+mph. I have made a few changes like carb, timing, new tires etc and we will see what it runs soon. Car should go 8.70's on a good track in similar air. It is usually run on the stop so never has been optimized for all out stuff. We will be running it in brackets and S/ST, should be 10.90 at 151ish..I have more info if anyone is interested..

theres a lot more potential in my car but i just wanted to build a bullet proof combo so i can race 9.90 supergas with minimal parts failure & the only unreliable component is me. Indy maxx low block , 0.035 over, KB forged pistons, H beam rods & chamfered crank. 440-1 heads, 400-2 intake, 1050 4150 series race demon, comp cams flat tappet cam 280@.050,dry belt cam drive, homemade crank scraper & alloy pan, milodon external pump with remote HP6 filter, reverse flow water pump, Holley Pro Strip Anihilator Ign,TA 5000 stall converter,TA brake,B&M deep pan, B&M supercooler with fan, Holley volumax fuel pump. car weighs 2850lbs with my fat butt in the chair. has Comp Eng back half kit, Romac floater hubs, f*rd 9" with 4.8 gears on strange nod housing & spool, 32x14x15 slicks. with timing only totalled out @32* & a super lazy advance curve(still not all in at 6000) 1.3 60's 9.90's @ 132mph. with timing at 35* 9.6@139mph.
