Project in the works here. 72 400 block, 4.250" ultra-lite crank, I-beam rods, 4.375" custom Diamond pistons. I am installing a hyd. cam for now (not looking to max out HP). I am using un-touched Victor heads and a Victor manifold topped off with a 950 ultra holley. The car is an all steel 68 Dodge Dart. The only glass I am using is a 67 RO hood scoop. I am backhalfing the car w/ round tube, 4-link rails. A full cage, front and mid motor plates. Dana 60 rear axle (not sure of ratio yet) Magnumforce front suspension. 727 T/F transmission. The tire and wheel combo is still up in the air. Will depend on how much room in the tubs and what size front tires will give the right stance for the car. I am building this car for my youngest daughter. She wants to go drag racing. Thankfully I have two more years to build the car. That is the reason for the mild cam and untouched heads and intake. I want to start her off easy and let her grow into the car.

if you all keep this up my wife will leave me because i am going to be broke I am about to start rebuilding the engine and this is really giving me the fever. i think i have decided on a world block with either a 4.25 or 4.5 stroke kit and around 11:1 compression. going to have the EZ's ported and a good sized solid roller. I want to spray it to around 850 900hp. I think i will start actually figuring it out and getting started in the next month or so. my 440 dart sport is temporarily down, but right now (sitting dead in the shop) it's a 440 with factory steel crank bottom end and diamond forged pistons(10.6:1), Indy 440EZ heads, some POS Comp Cam around 260@.050" with 585 lift?, eddy single plane with mighty demon 750, MSD 6al + MSD distributor. 8 3/4 with 4.10, inboard leaf springs with a 325/50 drag radial, 727 with a PTC converter that stalls around 3800. Ist pass it sheered the spring mounts dang near completely off the rearend and twisted it all to hell. the other 3 passes after repair it would not hook until 3rd gear around 100-150 ft mark

Dart 69 3.400lbs 4-link 12 point cage 33*16.5 slicks. 8 3/4 with spool and 4.10. willwood front & back. RMS coil over conversion 727 no manual valve bode 10" converter 3.000 stallspeed 470 ci engine on 400 block. 440-1 iron head 305 Hydraulic comp cam lift 525 dur 253 at .050 850 Speed Demon 2 1/8 headers into 3 1/5 dual exhaust with 4 mufflers First run and no corrections at all: Et 10.93 126 mph and lousy 60 foot: 1.72 Could be better and could be worse...guess the 4-link could be adjusted better when I started this build I wanted the car to be very streetable thats´why I used a hydraulic cam.I know the heads need much moore cam. ...anyway,i did put some clips on you tube:( dart 69 first run )it´s a green car with a black stripe on the rear deck lid. the clip is too long. should have been two clips but it´s much more...misstake by me..

I run a pretty basic setup with a few mods. I have a 72 Duster with an all iron 440, 10:1, old 516 home ported castings, 2.14, 1.81 valves, small roller cam with Harland Sharp rockers, Team G intake with a Dominator, Junk fenderwell headers, 727 with a 4000 stall, a 35 spline 9" with 4.56 gears, cal tracks, and 10x28 slicks. The car has run a best of 10.84 @ 123 in the 1/4. The car weighs 3400 with driver and all the windows and instruments still work. I am building a 528 for it and hope to run mid 9's.
I'll post some pics soon.
