my F/R column install
« on: August 11, 2007, 01:06:26 AM »

I got my column i ordered from bill today,I got a flaming river part #20006cm.it is the non polished finish but the whole shaft is stainless and looks nice.the only part that really needs to be painted is the 5" cover. Smiley
this is the piece bill makes so the column fits in the firewall tightly,I had to trim the inside with the dremmel, but that insures a tight fit.my only wish was that it came in black.i guess i could go to tap plastics not sure Dunno

this is the f/r coupler, very nice quality piece

this is the "factory drop OEM dash mount"(part#fr20114) not exactly in the factory position but very close.again nice quality..(I know it needs washers, just mocking it up Wink)

Install was a snap and I'm happy with it so far.when i get my steering box back I'll cut the shaft to fit and install the coupler 4 speed

bakaruda, what kind of steering wheel are you using with your f/r column?
i am mostly concerned about the fit between the column and the steering wheel,is there a gap?will some steering wheels not fit?

Look at this I think you will see what you need. There is a spacer that goes between the wheel and the colum.

i thought those were just for fitting a mopar wheel to the f/r column.
i thought an aftermarket wheel would just bolt on Dunno
those adaptors are expensive Madd
do i need an adaptor for a grant wheel?

Not sure about the grant wheel. They have install kits for there wheels. You need the kit.

that's lame to build a new column only to need an adaptor to make it work hammer what;s the point of that?even with thier own wheel you need an adaptor?plain stupid.
now i have to push more of the housing into the engine comp. I can only assume this will become a prob. when i install my headers.not to mention the extra $100 nobody told me was required to make it work. bat
