Wiring for Battery Shutoff

I was looking in the arcives at the battery shut off wiring diagram and it's
confusing to me.
Shouldn't the positive from the battery go directly to the switch, not the
ford solenoid??
As usual open to corrections, opinions, etc.

Yes it need to cut power to everything.
