I'm sure you won't have half as much grinding though! I musta spent a good 4 hours on grinding, and re-grinding this side after filling pin holes....but.......it's only time. I just couldn't get myself to start using filler until I knew it's done completely. What would you suggest for the backside? (I'm putting in full tubs)

(I'm putting in full tubs) Yeah thats for sure, it took me all of 10 minutes to sand the whole seam along the top of the quarter down flush!...What do you mean, sealer for the backside? I plan to use a good body sealer like this stuff: http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=1595&itemType=PRODUCTI used that on my trunk floor seams and man is that stuff tough once cured, goes on easy and smooth but man when it's dried it stays flexible but forget about it coming off! That'll work! I was leaning toward truck bed coating (Rhinoliner, etc) which would work for the inside of the panel; But I'm sure I need something flexible to seal the wheel tubs to the inner quarter panel. That Eastwood coating would probably be a better choice. Thanks dude.

Something tells me either I'm not using enough filler, or I'm sanding too much.

I'm afraid if I grind em more, the metal will get too thin. I had em covered, but being on the edge of that body line; it was looking a bit too sharp of an edge. I think I went a little too far with the sanding.

if the metal is high, you will never get it straight. i use the edge of a little cutoff wheel to knock em down; but you need to be sure they are high.

Now THATS better! Once I got the right primer material, and a couiple of skim coats; ya can't even see (or feel) the patch. Now that i have one quarter patch under my belt; the other side should go easier now that I know what to expect.

I guess it's one of those things that once you get the "hands on" experience, and know what yer lookin for in results, it kinda clears up the mystery. I wasn't sure what to do with the seam at the lower right of the pic; (The patch panels cover the stock seam up); but I think I'll fill it all the way to the door opening. It's a problem area that attracts exterior moisture anyway.
