Anyone know of a good fabric spray dye or something similiar? I need to make the seats black to match the interior, currently dark grey tweed...

I used Duplicolor Vynil and fabric paint to change from tan to black vynil seats. Works pretty good, just make sure that everything is clean before painting. Apply a few coats for good coverage. I believe that Plasticote makes a similar product.

DEFINATELY MAKE SURE IT IS DYE! Not paint! There are two types, don't make the mistake, or you will have a sticky mess.

no actually the duplicolor vinyl and plastic PAINT works great on interior parts, i have not tried it on the seats yet but on door panels and a piller covers, it has worked great for me,
plus i have painted my vinyl roof with it too and is just starting to chip off in little tiny pieces, 2 years later, just needs a touch up

You should use dye, it works better on fabric

I've used to paint on seats before, doesnt work worth a damn on fabric, it'll change the color but it flakes off and makes the fabric feel like sandpaper, Flyboy do you know of a spray dye? I'm not coming up with much, worse case I'll pull the covers off and soak them in a bucket of black fabric dye but a spray that I can use with the covers on the seats would be ALOT less work...

SEM makes it, also you can get it from the major suppliers like Year One and Laysons.

Ryan, We have used rite dye like you buy at the grocery store to dye carpet and going to black is the only time it has been succesful , never tried any seats . We just mix it richer than what the directions call for and spray it on with a spray bottle . Some stuff just does not take dye good . Like seat belts I have never had any success with those .

NO! That stuff does not dye consistantly! You will get a splotchy result, and it would be lighter wherever there is any grease or residue. You will regret it. Automotive dye is sprayed on like paint.
