engine stops running
« on: August 26, 2007, 08:18:36 PM »

I've got a 440 with msd ignition and blaster coil, I've been driving the car all summer.  The other nite all of a sudden it stops like you turned the key off.  The first 2 times it started right back up.  Today I go out to go up town and it just turns over. Its getting gas. All of a sudden it starts up.  I let it warm up a little and get ready to leave and it dies again.  Any suggestions on where to look?  I've checked the battery wires and the coil wires and the msd box wires  they were all tight.  Any help would be appreciated.

thanks   demon dave

How old is the MSD box? I've had older ones do exactly that. I sent them back to MSD and had them updated and they never did it again. I also never had good luck with Blaster coils. I've liked Accel Supercoils.

I bought it on ebay about 2 years ago.  The guy said it was about a year old.  I also tried my spare ballast resistor and that didn't make a differance either.

thanks

Not for nothin, but your ignition switch could also be bad.

If you have the ballast hooked up with the MSD, that may be the problem. You can eliminate the ballast when using the MSD.
