Topic: Mini tubs and rim backspacing 67 dart (Read 637 times)

Hi Guys, I just purchased a 67 dodge dart that has the springs relocated under the frame rails. It has a 8 3/4 rear a-body rear. It presently has stock rims on it and there is very little room between them and the outside wheel wells. I want to get wider rims for the back to take advantage of the spring relocation. Do aftermarket rim makers offer rims with custom backspacing like centerlines etc? I just need to know what the rest of you guys have done for rear rims with this issue. Thanks Dan

Some companies will make you any offset if you special order. A lot of wheels you are stuck with off the shelf and thats it. If you are going with steel wheels then not problem there are plenty of people making custom width and offset wheels. Tom (b569rr) has a '67 Dart with about the same set up as your car but a dana 60 rear. Give him a PM and I am sure he will share his info with you.

Thanks for the help, what size rim and tire are some of you guys running with similar setup? It looks like an 8in rim is probably max.

Hello: Mine is relocated super stock springs (Mancini KIT) mini tubbed, wheel opening streched, wheel opening edge removed and rod rod welded on in its place to pass NHRA regs. wheels and tires are Centerline Auto Drag 10.5 wide,Hooiser 12X15X29 slicks. This is the maxium width I can fit as my little finger just passes between tire and body. Good Luck Maynard

Were they the Demon/Duster body? They are a little wider than the standard Dart body.

Hello: Well i could change the wheel backspaceing and go another 1 to 1.5 inch wider moving towards the springs but the car seems to bite well with this setup. Maynard
