push button tranny

ok so ive been driving my 1964 valiant wagon now for 2 months and im getting tired of having to set the emergency brake every time i park the car, is this normal or is there some thing wrong with my car.

where is the park pin located. is it behind the push button part

There should be a parking lever you pull down next to the pushbuttons. If it is in gear, you pull the lever down and it pushes the D button out of gear and engages the nuetral button and the lever should put the trans in park. If this doesn't work than your parking sprag rod may need to be replaced, it is inside the trans.

ok so my cable is broke at the shifter. so where can i get another one, besides imperial

he does'nt need a parking brake cable Roll Eyes he needs the cable from the parking lever on his pushbutton dash (as shown in black and white pic above) to the transmission.

Ive got a set of good pushbutton cables from my 64 Valiant (dash shifter) - I've got both the parking lever and shift.   Mike   make me an offer, shipping from NJ.
