Does anyone know a way to loosen the ball joint from the upper control arm without buying the $65 3/4 drive ball joint socket made for mopars? I probably would only use it once if I bought one.
Thx, Randy

Check out US Cartool - I think they are quite a bit below $65. I got the entire kit and thought I would only use it once too, but it paid for itself in bloody knuckles and grey hair the first time I used it. I've onyl used it to do four or five cars, but it is well worth the money spent. How close are you to Readwood City? I have a buddy there that might be able to hook you up. Ray

Thanks Guzzi. I am 5 hours south of Redwood City near Santa Barbara. I guess I should go ahead and buy the socket from car tool. Hey, I used to have a Kawaguzzi. It was a cross between a Mach III 500 and a V7 Sport.
Thx

I went ahead and ordered it from Bob Mazzolini Racing in Riverside, Ca. The A body socket is 1 3/4" and it was $29.

trust me when i say this,,, you are much better off buying the tools, and doing it yourself.. i was going to save money, by letting someone else doing the uppers.. two days later i got a call to come and look at them.. both of the uca stripped out, and bent sideways.. i ordered new ones from Just Sup. waited 2 mts. never came in. ordered from Bill , he had them in stock, sent them to me in about 3 days. i also ask on this site about doing the lowers. i got some good info. if you have a welder , and a press, the lca are not hard at all. []{}moog or napa for the parts..

Thanks for the encouragement. I am going to tackle it this weekend. The socket was only $30.

I just changed the upper ball joint on my 70 cuda, must have been in there since it left the factory. The best tips I can give you are; get the correct socket and breaker bar, then heat the upper arm to loosen the ball joint. (a slightly glowing red control arm was the only way it worked for me).

Just got my kit from Mancini racing... I knew that if I ordered just the socket I would need the others later. Havent started the process of taking it apart yet..We want to get it moved into the garage before we pull it apart..
