Topic: Which one to build '65 early A or '69 A body SB 4 sp? (Read 937 times)

I have a '69 Valiant wstick pedals and a glass hood. Nice body (needs alittle work) needs paint. I have a chance to get a '65 Barracuda w decent paint, A/t . Neither has a motor in it. I am looking sb 4 speed OD. Other than styles what do you guys think would be a better choice. Is the early A that much lighter? Street and a little strip. I am not real good at body work, so the paint will have to be farmed out. Thanks for all opions.

only based on personal preference, the 69. you'll have an easier time going to a big block down the road if you want and the 4spd is hard to beat for a fun streeter. I think you'd also have an easier time finding parts for the 69 vs the 65.

If style is not a consideration, then the '69 is a better bet. Much easier to find parts for both new and used, also potentially worth more after your investment. I like the earlier A's myself because they're a lot less common...

Personal preference is the 65 but for ease of building, go with the 69.

I agree. If you want an "easier" project; go with the later model. But if being unique is part of your wants; go with the "little" A body. That way you'll know there isn't a guy down the street from you who has the same car.

PARTS,,YOU CAN FIND PARTS FOR A 65 B CUDA,,PROBABLY AS EASY AS A 69 VALIANT,,,,AND NOW A DAYS WITH CRATE ENGINES,, THE SQUARE /6 GRAND MASSS GROECERY GETTER IS WAY MORE POPULAR THEN THE 64/65 BARRACUDA,,EVEN THO THERE WERE SO MANY CUDAS PRODUCED,, AND THE SWAP OF THE SMALL BLOCK,BIG CLOCK,,,HEADERS,,CLUTCH STUFF,,IS ALL EASIER IN THE 69,,,BOTH ARE WAY KOOL STREET CRUISERS,,,THE VALIANT WILL BE MORE OF A SLEEPER,,GOOD LUCK,,,

I'd build the 65. Anything you want to do to the 69 you can do to the 65 and you'll have a more desirable car in the end. The 69 is probably lighter, though.
