Is the Oil temp on the left and oil pressure should be on the right? How do you wire the units to the guages. Like autometer. I suck at wiring

The above poster is correct either location is acceptable for oil temp or oil pressure. For a wiring diagram go to autometers website, they have pdf of all their instructions which should make wiring your gauges easy. After reading the directions if you have any mopar specific questions, write back. http://www.autometer.com/tech_instructions.aspx?sid=1Regards Joe Dokes

FYI, the Autometer pressure sending units are big. It'll interfere with the block unless you use a brass 45 degree elbow.

No I just took the motor down and I'm looking to order new parts and get everything lined up to order.

I don't think it'll do an ounce of good to install the oil temp guage in a passage all the way on the end of the block like that. I think it should go in the pan.

i would say that there should be enough flow in that area to give an accurate reading of tempurature, pan, or near the oil pump is probably better

If you stick the sender in the end of the run, the oil isn't flowing past it... If you have Indy heads with the external oiling it does.

well it most certainly is flowing....back to the pan eventually. obviously there is some restriction caused by bearing clearances etc, but i don't think there is just some dead leg in the oil system

I had a friend try to put a temp guage sender in a trans cooler line. I told him it had to go in the tranny pan. He put it in the line with a T. It didn't work. On every diesel engine and marine engine I've ever worked on, the temp senders for the engine oil were in the oil pans. On Borg Warner marine gears, they go in the bottom of the housing, which is basically the pan. You're right. It isn't a complete dead head. The oil runs past the lifters, crank, etc...
Picture it this way: you have your finger over the end of a garden hose. Your finger simulates the temp sender. The hose is full of pinholes watering the lawn. Your thumb isn't really seeing much flow. I would think the temp of the block is going to foul that reading.

I was hoping i could get the reading from the back BC it looked easy . But if it will not read I will put it someplace like the pan. Should it go in the front or back or has any one made an adapter for the oil filter so you can run oil temp and pressure.

NO NO NO, the oil pressure should always be run at the top of the block. This gives you a good indication of the minimum pressure and also ensures that there aren't any blockages anywhere

Yeah, exactly like 73swinger said: the pressure gets read from the back of the block. I say the temp shouldn't, but it will show temp from there as well.

OK water temp and oil pressure guages I understand and have, but why the oil temp?
In some cases knowing the engine oil and trans fruid temps may scare you worse than if you did not know them.
