Drove a Superbird the other day
« on: September 23, 2007, 03:35:58 PM »

One of my employees father has a 51K mile original superbird. 440-4v, column shift, bench seat.original paint and all. Got to take it for a little ride around town. I thought the Cuda turned heads. The birds will about cause accidents. Here are a couple pics!

The car has been well kept. They traded three cars and some cash for it back in the spring. Someone spent alot of time buffing the paint. I saw pics of it when they go it and it wasn't close to this nice. They is a small dent in the front fender. The car does have other minor issues: horn don't work, no coolant overflow, front rubber strip in front of hood missing, speedo does'nt work but I'd take it any day.
About everytime I go there he brings a different toy for me to drive. He has a nice original T/A Challenger and a nice 340 Dart. They also have a bunch of nice Chebbies.Heres the TA and dart.

The Superbirds are one of my all time favorite cars. I had one in highschool back in the 80s and I destroyed it. I'm such a dumba$$.  hammer

Beautiful cars by the way.

A friend had a B-5 440/4bbl bird. We lined up one evening, him in the Bird and me in the Dakota. I could take him in the quarter but from a 50 mph role it was all Bird!

Those cars are like heirlooms, rare and beautiful. Last year I was looking at this 70 Roadrunner that was all apart and vey needy for parts. I was going to make a clone bird out of it. Then I priced out all of the little parts and pieces and it very quickly zoomed out of my price range. All I can say is you are a lucky man to be able to do, what others can only dream about. Good luck and keep it safe!!!

There was a stock white superbird with a black vinyl top at Milan dragway last weekend.  It ran 15.67.  Kinda slow but what a beautiful car. . and expensive!

handled like a Roadrunner but felt heavy. Also it had NO Balls . You can't drive a car without seeing what it can do! 0-60 felt like 5 minutes.

When they built the Bird they ruined a good Roadrunner.
