I'm opening up and installing my wheel wells now .There are alot of indentations and stuff inside of them how many are really needed?And how many do the tire actually hit when it goes up in the wheel well?The one for the rear trunk hinge doesn't look like it is even needed even with the wheel wells widened.There are a couple near the front that look like they are for the seat can I smooth them out?And a edge 1/2"that runs just above the wheel well opening can I smooth that up some .I have to do some surgery on my wheel wells so I want to smooth them and get rid of anything that may hit the tire .I would put in tubs but I want to try and keep it looking somewhat stock.......why I don't know just because I guess.Any input would be appreciated! This is the seam you are referring to? When you run a .045" grinding wheel along its length, it lays right down.

Tom how far up in the wheel well will your tire fit? Will it stuff up in farther or will the shape of the top of well start to limit it .Can I still use my rear windows and back seat if I install tubs?I have three sets of wells only one good one .I have to do some repairs to either side though but the driverside need quite a bit of work.So I can repair them and widen them and put them in .Or I have built a buck out of a peice of pipe bent it to the shape of the wheel well (sharp bend at the back long curve at the front)And I can put a piece of metal over it and hammer it into the shape of the wheel well if you were to look at it from the side .If you look at it from behind the well sorta curves up ( If this makes sense)I can get the shape of the well but it will be on the ends put both ends in then put a piece between them to make the well .It will be wide the hole depth like a tub but when you open the trunk and look in it will also look somewhat stock from inside the truck.Sound complicated but I guess what I'm saying is it will be like a tub but instead of it being like half a circle it will be shaped like the original wheel wells .I'm not even sure if anyone can make heads or tails of this to say it's a good idea or not !!!I worked all night I'm going to sleep!

I believe my suspension will bottom out before I have tire / well issues. My tires are only 28" tall though (M/T 28" x 13.5) and their section width is actually only about 13.3. I needed to trim the lip for maximum clearance. This was done prior to the custom backspace wheel order. The lip stuck out past the trim therefore I just made it flush. See below.  Then I put a 2' framers level on the lip and looked for interference. I saw by flattening out that seem in my first post I could gain 5/8" clearance. I did not have any need to massage the inboard wells. The rear windows and rear seat still work with relocated wells. As for aftermarket tubs it depends on size. When cutting your old wells out, your cut line will go through the seat belt mounting locations. Be careful not to destroy these as you will need to save, and reweld them inboard a few inches. Sounds like you have a plan. Good Luck and show pics.

I know you want a somewhat "stock" appearance, but here is a pic of how mine are done.......new fabricated tubs moved up and to the frame rail. Car is a Demon...the only interference is from the quarter panel....but its way up there
