I want something different for the 67 Post dart 340-6 Dart. I was wondering if anyone here has made a nice custom dash, guage assembly or is there a decent one out there/aftermarket. I know Rocky mountain dashes builds one but I think they are high priced and i AHVE read too much negative about them
Thanks
Dave

I have heard several people who were very disappointed but they involved the E body ones. Can I see some pics of the two who have posted thus far? LAWFISH

LAWFISH there was a couple guy on moparts bitching about the sanding marks and how long it took to sand them out for paint.... i have one and really don't see what they were complaining about... then again we are talking about moparts here.. they have to be the biggest bunch od complainers out there... it was funny the one guy said for the money you shouldn't have to sand it in order to paint it... i asked him how many magnumforce front ends did you go through before you got one to fit? and i'm sure they are allot more money then the dash. it took him three...

West: I like what you did. It's nice having the custom look without spending a bunch of money. What did you paint it with?

i have some offset bezels i will put in to reangle the gauges but i can still read them now,it just looks funny. the grey paint was done by a painter friend who has one of those big mixing machines.the code was #327.I am going to paint all of the interior panels this color.

I think the RM dashes look great, but I dont like the recessed bezels, I prefer a flat panel to mount the gauges on. I made a cardboard mockup of how I want my dash to look, originally I was going to make it out of aluminum, but I decided to make it out of steel and blend it in with filler. I also wanted to make sure I could see the gauges through the wheel.

Here's my RMD. A coat of primer and a little sanding was all the prep needed for paint. They could probably do without sanding them - which is just to clean up their tool marks. But it didn't create a problem either for paint. Powercoat might be different story.

I sand them here, 80 grit DA sander and we get them powder coated and they turn out great. The E-Body deal is that the dash pad has to come out for the dash to fit, then the pad can be reinstalled. Ours is a one piece and the factory piece is two piece. We think the one piece is a cleaner look. We've had customers upset because the dash isn't ready to have anodized, I think we'd have to polish them to be ready for that... we don't polish them.
I built one similar to what Flyboy is building before we started RMD, it's was fine, worked great. There's also redline's plastic gauge pod.

MikeR, that is one great looking Dart in your post. Any more photos ?
Do you still build & offer the dash you made before beginning RMD product line, like FlyBoy01's ?
Thanks!

Yeah, the surface prep for annodizing has got to be perfect. The labor would add a ton to the cost. I love my RMD. Love your Dart too Mike!

As far as the E-bodies go, I think we're fine, we're supplying the dashes to the XV Motorsports guys. For the A's we're working with the Barton guys on 50 Hemi Cars with A/C. I try (although it's not always easy) not to let a few guys, that seem unable to be pleased, get me down. Thanks guy for the compliments on the car, it's pretty dang fun to drive!
