1967 Dart 7 1/4 rear going to 8 3/4.
« on: October 07, 2007, 11:35:23 AM »

Hello Everyone. I am trying to get an 8 3/4 posi in my 1967 Dart w/400 engine.(was a six). I spotted one but the front gear holder (pinion to driveshaft) looks big and box like? Brake backing plate on my 7 1/4 is 52 inch and spring plates center to center is 41". I told seller to measure his unit. Can I use this rear if I got a different driveshaft? Is there a better rear to use and not need a shaft?  this rear out of I think an aspen wrong for my car? Thanks in advance for any help. Wayne

Thanks for that info on Aspen. I am new to this so sorry if I do not answer well. I would add picture of my car if I knew how. The rear I am looking at was in an aspen with 360 and 727 trans? Was it a car someone built? strange thing is rear has this look like the input shaft is a rectangular box? and guy measures different than me. he wants $400.00 and that could go up. I have seen some cars (Barricuda) with 9 inch Ford rear. This is low budget so any way to save money will help. I am selling my gts hood to get some cash for this. explode

You can post pics after ten posts.

Post pics of the rear after your tenth post and somebody will know what it is.
