I finally got a chance to call Quicktime bellhousing and talked with Ross there. They are a very helpful company. I will definitely buy from them. Don't quote all the details on this---call to confirm. I was writing fast.....I may have missed a bit.
They make several bells for different T-56 and engines.
Their T-56 GM version does use the LS1 style transmission. This can use a hydraulic throw out bearing. Their T-56 Viper version uses of course the Viper T-56 and is set up for the stock Viper fork and mechanical slave actuator. (can anyone verify that the viper uses a fork and slave?) I don't know Vipers. The new TR6060 high performance unit from OEM applications utilize a integrated bellhousing if I understood correctly, but Tremec has one out or is coming out with the same 6060 transmission with a "divorced" bell to use the standard T-56 bolt pattern which will bolt to their bells. Tremec is calling this the T-56 Magnum. I see Tremec mentions it on their website if you search. No details though. Quicktime said this will bolt up to one of their bells.
My question about the 6.1 hemi and the T-56 is answered by the same above, just that the LA engine bell is used with a LA starter and remains on the driver's side at the 7 o'clock position. They are coming out with a dedicated new gen hemi 5.7/6.1 bell in a couple of months that will allow the starter on the passenger's side also at the 5 o'clock position.
Quicktime does not sell or provide pilot bearings. You need to go to NAPA or somewhere and figure it out or have one machined. They basically said they can mate up almost any T-56 to any Mopar engine. It might require a different input or front plate at most.
This is becoming a great thread!

I don't know Vipers. Vipers used hydraulic slave cylinders, that mount to the front of the transmision, then slip on T/O bearings go onto the slave. I'm setting my T-56 up with a Viper set-up as we type... -Michael

sycboi,
Thanks for the Viper info. I too plan on going with the hydraulic TO also. Easier and cleaner for my application. What brand of set up did you use? Next question: Anyone have any additional info on the new T-56 Magnum (the TR6060with the standard T-56 bold pattern)? Release about June, but that's all I know.

I originally had a McLeod but the working range will not fly unless I rebuild it with a new/different sized piston...read my first post...I updated it... -Michael

maybe this question has been answered before but I just havn't seen it. I'm wondering where the shifter would come out with the array of T56 transmissions that came in all these different vehicles. If possible I want to reuse my stock console after install so nobody is the wiser of what I've got under the shifter.
I also have a question on bellhousing. I am building a car that will eventually see a turbo charged slant, I figured because I'd likely get a custom built SFI approved bellhousing that I might as well get it built for a better trans anyways. so I just wanted to make sure with the guys who have already bought one that the bellhousing I see on the trans already is removable?

So where does one buy the bigblock-T56 pilot bearing? Anyone find it available anywhere?

I don't have an answer for that either....... I have the same question regarding sourcing a pilot bearing for a t-56/6.1L Hemi combo. Anyone? Quicktime said I may have to have one machined?

I'm told Geoff and his brother parted ways unfortunately, but Geoff continues to work on things. I havent spoken to his brother, so I'm sure what he's doing. I just always dealt with Geoff, so I call him by default.

The trans will not fit in the stock tunnel and the shifters come out in the middle in the tail of the trans. You can probably modify the shifter to move it over but the tunnel will need modified.

I know the tunnel will require modification. but I'd like to use my stock floor shift console so the car looks "stock"

The crossmember in the yellow challenger worked out great, so I think I may do something like that, but it's based around the US cartool frame connectors, so it'll be more of a kit that includes those and the crossmember fitted to them. You'd bolt the crossmember and connectors together and weld them under the floor as a unit so everything fit nice.
Any chance of this kit becoming reality? I'm getting ready to order my frame connectors and will wait if so. Any updates on installs of the T56 in A bodies, pics, new stuff, etc?

Bill - good to see some photos of that T56 installed. A buddy of mine is thinking of doing a big block swap to his 75, I just stumbled across this thread. Yes, Gerko Engineering is defunct. Family fued got in the way of a good product. I have still done a couple small conversion parts for guys, mainly over on Moparts. Stuff pertaining to the A-bodies I've got all the info on, guys can PM me here or email at mark_gerko@yahoo.com with questions or looking for conversion parts for TKO stuff. I do have info on the 6060 too. I know little about my brother now..... I won't recommend him or speak badly about him either - just bad blood that I'm trying not to flame.
