335/30/18's.....what you think???
« on: October 10, 2007, 03:10:25 PM »

Just got my rear tires.....scored on craigslist.  335/30/18's.......Car is a Demon w/ mini-tubs. They fit with room to spare, I may go with 345/30/19's though for a little taller tire.

Not my style, but they look like a good fit.  I'd like to see them with the rims mounted.  Goodluck  Popcorn

Go with what you like, but my opinion (not worth much  Grin ), anything bigger that a 17" just does not look right in an a-body. It just looks odd to me, I say go with a higher aspect ratio tire. But again, go with what you like, not what I like.

Nice wheels. I have 335/35-17 now. I am going to 345/40-17 when it hits the road. The second ones are taller and fill the wheel well better.

A lot of people don't like that look, but I sure do...  If you are building it for straight line, that's not the right kind of tire.  But, if you building it to go around corners, and go for that G-Machine look and performance, that would be a great choice.  I just bought some 335/30-20's for my Dart...

Good luck,
John

Pro-touring look is what I like.  Lots of A-body drag cars, but not many G-machine types.

John (68droptop) did you get michelin ps2's for the rear??  28 inch tall tire will look good on the convert.

After looking at mine today....I'm goin with the 345/30/19 's ,  satin black centers on the wheels wont look oversized.

Yup, PS2's.  The pics I have on here show it with the 305/25-20's.  They really didn't look right because there was slightly less sidewall than the front.  At 26" diameter, I was also geared too low with a 3.91 rear.

I got the 335/30's mounted today and I put them on tonight.  I just came in from the garage after some lip grinder work.  At 28" diameter, they are tight on the front edge, but I have about 1/2" clearance.  The outside edge is close, but I think I'm going to be okay.  They are steamrollers.  I knew the dimensions, but I can't believe how much bigger they look than the 305/25's.  I will take some pics when I can.

You know, for a pro-tourer, Bakaruda got the hot set-up with a modern Hemi...

Good luck with your project.

Oh, also the car can not be any lower all the way around. It only has about 3in from the front cross member.
