tire size and spring question
« on: October 14, 2007, 03:38:17 AM »

I have a 64 dart and am thinking i can fit a nine inch tire (in the rear) with the factory set up, can anyone tell me what they fit? iv'e also been tossing around the idea of moving my springs and inner wheel well. I was looking in the tech section and wondering why you couldn't just move the springs in a little farther, cut some spare wheel well out and move the upper shock mounts closer together. it seems like it would be a little easier then cutting into the frame. Is their any reason this wouldnt work, or would the car just not handle well. Anyway i got a 360 and am planning on stroking hopefully getting up into the 500 hp range with the limited info how much tire do you think wolud be needed to get it to the ground. thanks guys.

On my '65 dart I used the offset spring hangers and shackles, didn't want to cut the frame rails, and I can fit a 255/60/15 in the back now.

I have the same mod, the tire I use is a 27X10.50 ET Street, On my old motor with crappy stock leaf springs and drag shocks this car would 1.50 60ft. Ive upgraded the motor from the 383 on the bottle to a N/A 451 that "Should" be about 620 horse. So now it getting the Cal-Trac bars and Mono Leaf set up with the rancho 9000's,  9 way adjustable shocks.

I figure if the stock suspension can deal me a 1.5 then this should be able to handle the engine upgrade.

Hop this helps  4 speed

GT, did the 65 gt's come with the stripes down the center or is that a mod? Also did you keep all your trim, mine is also a gt and i was wonderin if you kept it you're happy with it. Im still undecided. mine was white with the red stripe on the side and about 50 lbs of trim it seems like. As far as you know what are the differences of the gt and non gt models? Who makes the best leaf spring relocation kit? what mods are nesasary? is it bolt in? Sorry i know thats a lot of questions from a non big block guy. thank you.  Blah Blah Blah
