Summit adjustable Drag shocks
« on: October 16, 2007, 06:52:56 AM »

I just got these summit brand adjustable drag shocks. I installed them and set them to 90/10 according to the instructions. I was later thumbing thru the summit catalog and noticed that the settings that were printed in the catalog were backwards from what the instructions said to do. The catalog said that Regular setting is 60/40 (R), Firm Setting is 80/20 (F) and Extra Firm setting is 90/10 (XF). The instructions show that its the other way. Here they are.

When I called summit and asked about the instructions, the girl I talked to said the the instructions I got with the shocks were correct and the catalog is wrong...but, I was also on Competiton engineering's web site and checked out their adjustable drag shocks (very similar to the summit brand) and noticed that the setting procedure was the same as the summit catalogs and not the instructions that I got with the shocks. Can anyone clearify this for me? Whats the right way to set these things?

reckon what they might be referring to is the compression valving and not rebound. for racing set them at 90/10 for the street the 60/40 should work better.

Thanx Bob! Anyway, How should these feel when I set them to 90/10 before I put them in? Would it shock travel easy in both directions with the same amount of resistance, or should it come out fast and go in slow? I've never dealt with these things and need a little input. Thanx again!

they have to be pulled all the way out to adjust or maybe that was all the wasy in.  Roll Eyes 90/10 should pull out rather easy and push in hard.
