Topic: Which rear disc brakes and what ends? (Read 505 times)

I am looking for some rear disc brakes to use on my 72 duster and I know that I can get the explorer kits and stuff for like $500 but is there any setups that I can use from a newer car from a u-pull yard? I am soon going to have my Dana 60 narrowed so I can go with whatever ends that I wish. Is it just a matter of pulling all the components from the donor car and putting them on my rear if I have it set up with the same ends?

brand new wilwood setup is about $550, beats a junk yard set for $500. IMHO

Do you really think that it would be close to $500 for a scrap yard set? I figure that I'll get new rotors and rebuild calipers anyways. Thats what I'm doing on the front for now, but I do plan on getting the wilwood kit after I get the car together and get everything worked out.

No, I dont know what a junk yard set-up will cost. I thought the explorer kit you mentioned was from a yard for $500.

Haha there are a lot of threads about this. I used 9" ends and did Malibu Front Calipers and Jeep somthing rotors. I'll get you part numbers today. Best part is, I got everything for under $100.00

Thats a great looking setup for the price. Please do get me part numbers. What caliper bracket did you use to mount those with? Also what axles are you running?

I had 'em put the brackets on when they narrowed it for me at www.quickperformance.com. If you call up there ask for Doug. I think the brackets were $15.00 each or a pair I don't remember. I think I'm in the whole rear end for under $1200.00 since I had the case layin' around. I'll get the part #'s when I get back out to the shop for ya. The axles are the Quick Performance 35 spline's with a spool.

So are you using their kit or did you supply your own calipers and rotors?

It's not really a "KIT" per say, it's just the parts he uses.
I know the calipers are like '81 Malibu fronts.
Caliper Part #'s R125FK and R126FK Rotor Part #'s 5108
I THINK these are Carquest part #'s.
