63 Dart Headliner Question
« on: February 14, 2006, 12:45:08 PM »

I emailed Dante's about a new headliner for my 63 Dart GT. They have the 64-66 listed, but not the 63. I asked if the 63 wasn't the same. They replied that the 63's were cardboard? Mine's cloth and it's old. Whether it's original or not I don't know. Anyone know what came in the 63? Was it cardboard or cloth?

When I had my 63 valiant it was cloth, and original. It was a gold color and had little symbols on it.

Do they have bows in them?  I was taking parts off of a four door 63 Valiant and it's headliner looked like my 64.  By the way, I try and buy everything I can from Dante's.

Yeah, it's got the bows. Looks original. Except for one small L-shaped tear about 2" both directions, I could probably clean it and re-dye it. It's really in good shape. Of course it's old enough that the seams are probably dry-rotted, so if I clean it with something, they'll probably break loose. Dantes' seemed to have some good prices. I was also looking at their seat covers (same concern with age and dry-rot). The front are OK, no tears just age, they appear to have maybe been recovered at one time. The back looks new, but is really brittle. I'm afraid if I sat on it, it'd tear.

Anyway, I was just wanting to make sure the 64-66 headliner would also fit the 63. On the seat covers from Dante's, do they have the carpeted backs?

What are they showing for the 63 Valiant?  Seat covers or the headliner?  Thanks.

Yes the 63 Valiant had bows in it. And yes I made my own headliner out of black vinyle-naugahide. 4 speed
