How much cash were you going to throw in with the deal?

A-body rears are at least $200 and sometimes $300 more expensive than the plentiful B's.   I can get B's for under $100 from the yards. Sometimes you're lucky and find an A $100, but, most of the time they are long gone before the yard ever gets the car.

 agree

I paid $500 for my A-Body 8 3/4 w/ small bolt pattern axles (no third member) 2 years ago after a previous 2 years of searching. Now that I am narrowing a C Body for the mini-tub, I am selling the housing alone (freshly painted) for $250 and that is considered a deal around these parts.

It'll cost me 250 to get the axle shortened to any length I want so I wasn't considering giving any cash with it.

Hope your search is fruitful, I doubt anyone would trade straight up.

What you have to pay to shorten your rear is of little concern to someone with a more desirable A body rear end. If you found someone to trade straight up, RUN, don't walk to make it happen. Not trying to be harsh, but, why not ask for a correct width Dana 60 while you're at it.  See where I'm going with that.  It's like wanting to trade a like shape 318 straight up for a 340, likely not gonna happen.

I do shorten 8 3/4 housings to any width. Housings are cleaned and sandblasted. $ 150.00.
