14" tire question
« on: October 31, 2007, 11:19:56 AM »

What is a good size 14 inch diameter tire?  Do they even make 255/60/14s, or 245/60/14s?  I'm trying to find some tires for my dad's '65 Ranchero for Christmas.

go to www.tirerack.com   and enter the size and do a search.  at least you'll know what's available!

Those sizes might be easier to find at a local tire place, try Cooper, BFG, Firestone, Dunlops, Futura.

Check the price on Cooper Cobras. They are a better tire for about the same money.

if you're using a stock rim its a good idea to figure your rim width b4 you buy a tire. repro rims are kinda pricy. mind you, even a 275'll  fit on a 14x6.

agree Also, check out the Pep Boys Futura tires, I have those on the back of my car now. I think they are less than $50 each.

Well, I called pepboys and they can get me 245/60R14 BFG radial t/a's for 125 apiece!  No thanks.  Summit can get 245/60R14 Cooper cobras.  I need to call back tomorrow to get a price.  They have to call cooper to get a price.  They should be around $80.  I'll probbaly go this route.  If I wasn't saving for a house, I'd just get him a set of 15" torque thrusts and new rubber all the way around.

Thanks for the ideas guys!  I love this site!!!
