Another Master Cyl question......HELP!
« on: November 02, 2007, 10:43:13 PM »

Currently my 66 Val has a 4 bolt single pot master cylinder and 9" drums all the way around. Today I picked up a 4 bolt dual master cylinder from Kawazuki Ray.

The single pot system looks like it just used a simple distribution valve (not a proportioning valve)

Here is the question: to switch to the dual master cylinder, retaining the 9" drums all the way around. Do I need a proportioning valve, or did those systems just use a distribution block designed for the dual res system?

If it is just a distribution block can I just run one of the master cyl lines all the way to the rear end, and split the other one to the fronts?

I know someone here can help me out. I want to try and get this entire brake system worked out and installed this weekend, so thanks for any info!

Cheers,

Chris E.

Go to Wheels/Brakes/Rear Axle and click on Brake Line Clips/Hose Tees

What you need is Part # BTB2

This is the one I ordered for my disc/dual master upgrade on my 66.

Might be a cheaper source out there.

Just a distribution block.

One of the lines already goes "all the way to the rear end", and tee'd off to the rears, are you suggesting running a longer one directly into to M/C to separate the circuits?  The fronts are already split, or 2 separate lines, you just need the dual feed/separate circuit distro block.

agree I did that conversion to my 65 following a good article in one of the rags.  I scanned it to send to another member and I still have it. It just takes a few small lines and a few fittings using your current distribution block.  If the dual pot MC still has the fittings on it that's the only hard parts to scrounge.  If you want I can email you the article.

Thanks guys. That is a huge help. Ski, I'd definitely like a copy of that article if you can find it.

Thanks!

Chris,  Sent it in three separate emails.  Let me know if it doesn't come through.
