Tire Size ???
« on: November 06, 2007, 03:16:20 AM »

I will be getting tires for the front of my car in a couple weeks .  62 Plymouth Savoy , 440/727 with manual steering !!!  7" rims, I was planning on getting 235/60/15" tires . Do you think those tires will be a Bear for Steering or should I drop down to a 215/60/15"   Huh  Weekend Car

they will be fine if you have a big 16 inch steering wheel, but a 12.5 wheel might require some extra effort

I have a 15" steering wheel .  I was wondering if a fast ratio pitman arm would make any difference

You can help decrease steering effort by decreasing positive caster. Also use wheels that have same offset as factory.

I have 225/70-15's on the front of my 63 with manual steering and it steers easy.   It actually steers easier then I thought it would.  Ron

Hey Jack-
He's right.  Fast ratio means fewer turns of steering wheel lock to lock, but at the price of increased steering effort.
