Here I go: What do elephant ears do?? ? <Me quickly rolling away now It is a solid mount that is very popular for more race-oriented cars and many streetcars before the conversion mounts came out. That way, you could use whatever K-member you wanted and mount the motor in with the "elephant ears". The downside from what I understand is the solid mounting transmits every engine vibration through the car. Not bad for race, but for some people it might be a little too much on the street.

If you go to the tech pages, there's an article on how to make your own - that article will give you the full run-down on the what's and where's.
In my experience, I didn't really think they "rattle your teeth out", but they DID constantly rattle the spare change in my ashtray, as well as any loose trim on the car. In the article, I used poly mounts, which was a bit smoother than solidly bolted ones, but it still wasn't as smooth as regular mounts.
Then again, most of these cars are far from quiet and smooth, so it probably wouldn't have much of an affect on the 600-700hp street-strip cars that require them.

Those who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those of us who are doing it.

Ski, that was good. I'm still chuckling. allblacknblue, you will not need to wory about them since you are using motor mounts. The elephant ears bolt on the front of the engine instead of the side where you will be placing your motor mounts. Brad

If you go with the Scumacher mounts, order their Torque Strap too. It's cheap insurance from busting a motor mount.
