I've got a '69 GTS that I've been puddling away on for a while and I've come to the 1/4 panels now. This is an ex race car that someone rolled the lips up on the 1/4's and its was mini tubbed as well. For whatever reason, there appears to be a substantial amount of filler around the wheel wells on the 1/4 surface. I thought it would be easiest to media blast it and see for sure what is under there. I checked with one place in town and they said that it could range from $135.00 to as much as $200.00 (soda) per hour. Is that a normal price? Daryl

Thats not to bad. A good shop should have the whole car striped in an hour or two.

It's hard to get filler off. On my old fastback I used a small propane torch to get it off and the sand I was using just bounced off.

I used a stripping wheel (sort of like a really tough scotchbrite) from Eastwood for filler removal. Soda blasting probably wont get rid of all the filler. I got a quote in Dallas for $120/hr.

My buddy just had a Chevelle media blasted for $650. That's dirt cheap.
I've used a 4" Makita angle grinder and a knotted cup brush to take filler out, otherwise aircraft stripper works but it's slow (it only penetrates so far then you acrape a layer, re-apply, repeat...).
