10 inch drum question?
« on: November 26, 2007, 07:38:10 PM »

Having trouble finding a 10 x 2 inch brake shoe for my 8 3/4 I'm swapping in the 69 dart, any of you guys know a cross refrence I can use, I've
wore out the advance auto web site trying to find right match, I hate to buy new 10 x2.5 drums when I have good ones on hand.

Thanks 5258

Maybe I'm measuring wrong, but when I check the inside of the drum, tape measure on shoe surface I'm getting 2 in's. I know there small bolt pattern, because the fit the axles.

Thanks

There were no 10x2 drums is the reason you can't find them. Like stated above small bolt a-body 10" drums had 1-3/4" shoes. All V8 a-bodies through 1972 had them.

5258: go to the junk yard and get you a set of 11"X 2 1/2" Backing plates and drums and use them. You'll find em on stuff like 80's model LeBarons and New Yorkers. They will be found on the 8 1/4 rears. I just put a set on my 73 Duster. Good luck.

The 10"x1 3/4" drums you are looking for are discontinued.
Have fun trying to find a set.

That actually alludes to the problem. It's not so much that some parts are unavailable, it's that they never made the transition to the computer.

When I was looking for mine, I went to every parts store out there.
I was told same thing from everyone, not available, discontinued.
I ended up getting a pair from a aftermarket parts place that has NOS parts and
tons of old parts.
