« on: November 30, 2007, 06:01:17 PM »

WEll my question i pose is what's better? steel or fiberglass? i'm trying to track down a hood for my Demon right now and steel hoods are hard for me to find.  and whe ni do they are nto much less then a fiberglass hood from unlimited hoods.

What do you all say is the best route to go?

first of all stay away from unlimited products.you should know that.
aar or some others is the way to go.
nothing wrong with glass in my opinion but i would recomend getting a quality bolt on style, lift offs suck.

If you want a six pack scoop, go fiberglass. AAR or Glasstek. Lift off or hinged is up to you. Otherwise, steel hoods are fine. Shouldn't be that hard to find...

I love glass hoods for taking weight off the front of the car, but they require more than just two pins across the front. The one I had on my 69 Charger used to bow up so high at speed, I could see my air cleaner. I glassed a tube across the back for rigidity and had 4 pins across the front. Then it was ok.

I already have my hood scoop for the car that i have put on my steel hood it's just from that accident  it really did a number to that hood it's bowed really  bad.

So that's why tomorrow i am going to 2 junk yards in hopes i find me a dart or a demon more like a dart though.

If i don't find anything then my route will be a fiberglass hood.

I will let you guys know the outcome tomorrow

I just received a beautiful piece from AAR. Gaps are good with no low / high spots. Delivered to my place in under 3 weeks. It only weighs 26 lbs.

Hello:
DO NOT BUY YOUR HOOD FROM UNLIMITED!!!!!!!  Poor quality finish / insufficeNt bracing for the hemi scoop, I added reinforcemint under the front edge of the scoop hole.  They had written with some kind of  marker on the surface of hood near where the letters DODGE go.
I sanded and primed the area, then the guys at the body shop sanded and primed.  We shot a couple coats of black on it, and a week later the marking showed through the black paint.

If you have paid them and don't have the hood get your money back.  I assure you won't like the product..
