Craftsman Professional 25 Gallon Horizontal with the oiled cylinder. It was able to keep up with the El-cheapo HVLP 1.5 primer gun whick I drilled out to make it a 1.85, It probably won't even break a sweat when I use my new Astro 1.4 LVLP gun for the paint.

Hello: HOOORAYYYYY looking good. It's amazing how much work goes into that first primer coat on whole car, but when you stand back and look at it, it's worth every second of prep work. Nice job, what color you going for on finish cooats, you gonna have "Flyboy's cyustom paint do it". Maynard

I was originally going to paint it black, but I am questioning my ability to spray, so I am probably going to paint it red.

Cool! I'll bet you're thrilled. One step closer. Seems body work and paint is the single longest, most time consuming, often frustrating, part of a project.

AMEN! When I bought the Dart. I decided to do a brake job, when I said, "as long as I am doing this, I might as well..." When I started the bodywork 2 months into the project 4 months 6 months 8 months 10 months Yesterday when I finished priming

Nope, still have to put on another coat, most panels only have 1 coat, some have two. I want to get 3 coats on it before I block sand. I am going to try to do it tomorrow, I took 1/2 a day off Tuesday and Wednesday.

black is the easiest color to spray...try painting a white car ...obviously hiding bad bodywork is a different story

I was originally going to paint it black, but I am questioning my ability to spray, so I am probably going to paint it red.
The decision was finally made last weekend and it was the harderst one I made in my entire life, what color to paint my Dart? After I started blocking out the Dart, I realized that the 8 months of body work paid off, its as flat as a board. I bought the paint and clear Saturday, Dupont Jet Black Basecoat and Matrix MS-42 2:1 Clear. So black it is!

black (or any solid color) is the easiest to spray.....its the buffing and polishing(if you choose to sand and buff) that will test your patience

No replacement for displacement!

Black will be cool!!! After seeing your shop you've inspired me, I have been letting the size of my shop keep me from doing body work, I think I will go start sanding on my car right now!!

I have 40 inches on each side of the car, plenty of room for me and a roll around seat. Actually, being so small makes it easy to clean and vacuum.

Just because there was no cost advantage. I ended up getting the Base/clear, and all the reducers/hardeners for $230.00. If it was a quickie paint job, I would still use the stuff.

The point of the Laquer is that it is very low odor, its good for do-it-yourselfers also. The issue with Urethanes is that they stink up the whole neigborhood and are very toxic, Laquers (new type) are very safe, since they are reduced with acetone, which evaporates down, not up, so there is minimal smell associated with it. Another thing, for novices, you dont have to worry about recoat windows, you can stop and restart anytime, and it involes no mixing and ratios. For me, it was the fact that I wanted somethign a little tougher, which is why I went with a BC/CC Urethane system, now I just have to worry about getting evicted for painting it in my garage.
