I'm hoping someone can help me out with a little bit of information. I have a '68 Dodge Dart that a friend and I have been working to repaint. It's been primed and block sanded, and now we're deciding on color (red) and talking about the stripes (white or black). We haven't had much success searching the web and what we need is the proper stripe sizes and some idea of the right placement and spacing. This picture is the stripe http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/1968-dodge-dart-gts-440-2.jpg (not my car just off the internet) It's a small stripe, a space, 2 large stripes (with a space) then another space and a small stripe. We'd much prefer to actually paint the stripe on instead of purchasing a decal. Any information would be a huge help!

I have the dimensions in my garage. I think they are 1/2 stripe. 1/4 space, 2 3/4 stripe, 1/4 space, 2 3/4 stripe, 1/4 space, 1/2 stripe. These are from memory and not 100% sure. I will have to go home and check again.

A-bodies since 1978, this one since 1983

They aren't straight across the deck lid. My GTS had the body side stripe and will again some day.

Here's some pic's that should help:
Flyboy01 is close but not exact. I had to graph these out for my body shop guy when I had them painted on instead of the decal. I hate the wax build up along the taped stripe edge.
Stripe is as follows: 1/4" stripe, 1/4" space, 2 3/4" stripe, 9/16" space, 2 3/4" stripe, 1/4" space, 1/4" stripe Placement down the quarter is 3" forward of the edge of the installed marker lamp. Also note the stripe follows the edge of the decklid body line bending in the middle. It is 3 7/8" from that line the whole length, side to side.
This should get you there.

Wow thank you! I could not have asked for any better information, this is exactly what the painter and I needed to get the stripes on there right. I was going to go with the black stripe, but after seeing the pictures my wife is badgering me for the white ones I'll be back to post some pictures. Thanks again

I like them painted on also.

I thought the same thing at first, about the white stripes, but I wanted a bit less "call out" since the car is Retina Melting Red already and at night I can get a bit more stealth with the black ones. Cops are attracted by loud noises first and bright paint next. Ask your neighborhood obnoxious Honduh owner.
